  2. Thank you Tidgy for taking the time to construct this reply, I will start this process and keep you updated. If the engine is not able to start will their be any value in the car, It looks as new? Thank you Derek

  4. Would appreciate any advice on best way to sell an unused 'as new' spare alloy wheel (incl tyre) for a 2018 Outback. I'm not a social media user, so prefer not to sign up to Facebook etc, and wondered if there was a list of any local Subaru car meets? Any alternative suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you.
  5. Hi all, I recently had an issue with the control arm of my 2005 Subaru legacy 3.0R estate. It failed and the wheel ripped out the lambda sensor. The control arm has been replaced and i have an aftermarket lambda sensor to fit. The only problem is that the wheel ripped off the original plug connector. I therefore have bare wires that lead to the ECU. The aftermarket lambda sensor has generic wire colours so i don't know which wires to connect to the correct spade connectors in the sensor plug. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the which coloured wires go from the ECU to the lambda sensor? Your help would be appreciated Thanks in advance
  6. Hello. I am new to the owners club. I have had two Forester STi over the years and have loved them both. My current car is an '06 plate in silver. My son has recently passed his test and has bought a car, so room on the drive has become squeezed. I am looking to sell my Forester...but where's the best place to advertise it? It's had a recent new clutch and has done c. 125K miles. Still pulling like a train, as it has after market air filter, radiator shield and anti-roll bars, plus an after market exhaust (all of which fitted in Japan prior to shipping). Advice gratefully received!
  7. No problem at all to ask, hopefully you have some luck finding one 😄
  8. Hi, has anyone had any luck with this issue. I’ve have exactly the same issue and have been told it’s now internally locked and need to be replaced as there is no way around this point.

  10. I'm reluctantly selling my lovely rust free 2001 STI. With the EJ207 engine the one with forged pistons from the factory. Mated to Subaru's Six speed manual gearbox (cogs bigger than the 5 speed) delivered through Subaru's asymmetric four wheel drive system it's a serious machine. Japanese domestic market(they kept the best specs to themselves) Wagon in World Rally Blue with the correct gold alloy wheels. Full STI interior with wonderful comfy STI bucket seats. Momo steering wheel as standard. Car as it came from factory, so standard. Never been chipped or mapped. Full history Japanese & UK. Engine: Subaru EJ207 flat four turbo. STI overhead intercooler with manual/automatic cool water spray. Gearbox: STI 6 speed manual. Transmission: Subaru asymmetric permanent four wheel drive. Bodywork: in World Rally Blue with 17' STI gold alloys. STI side skirts & twin rear spoilers Interior: half leather with Alcantara STI seats. Blue Alcantara door inserts. Momo leather steering wheel. ICE: CD/Mini disc/radio. & The sound of turbo whistle Overall the car is in excellent condition when you consider it's 23 years old. I would keep it but have decided to live abroad permanently & can't ship it out due to an import ban in Thailand. In this spec there was only 2 ever imported out of the 442 ever made so a really special rare car. Price £15,000 or nearest serious offer, includes 12 month MOT Email Steve at smorrissey1901@outlook.com with any questions, more photos of engine and interior to follow.
  11. This seller does them (Heated and wide view versions available) https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_ssn=car-parts-market&store_name=carpartsmarket&_oac=1&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 If you in a jam for saturday MOT just get best size match glass from a local parts factor (avoid halfords and ECP whenever possible) and fit that with some double sided foam pads just to get through MOT then fit proper specific model one after MOT .
  12. Sorted it out 😀 I figured out the spring was broken so that is why it was not working. I put the new one in and all error lights and codes went away by themselves. All the best, maybe this will help someone else
  13. I'd expect to see the reservoir near the offside front strut tower. Left hand side as you view the engine.
  14. Good day all. Will a standard seat belt extension fit an Outback 2017 or 2018. Or is the seatbelt long enough for a very portly guy? Cheers, Hofmeister
  15. Sorry to say it could be one or both of the secondary air valves?! If you replace those there can’t be much else to replace on the system….. My local independent has a page on the subject…..not sure if it helps though as I think you have tried most?! http://www.subaru4you.co.uk/engine/secondaryair.shtml#:~:text=The secondary air is supplied,Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV). Regards Stephen
  16. Picked it up today (Touring/Red) and like it - some hill work and max speeds up to 60 and today's consumption was 3.6-3.7 miles/kwh which I am quite happy with given that a lot of that was in normal mode - battery was full from the dealer showing a max range of 269 miles with the heating set at 18.5 auto eco mode. As a comparison the Kia Soul I have run for the last 2.75 years is doing 4.3-4.4 miles/kwh after 38000 miles.
  17. don't expect to be driving any newer car for 20 years as most uneconomical repair in less than 15 years . I not biggest believer in 1 owner cars being that special, scenario is that 1 owner can get tight on expenditure in later years of ownership while a second owner would of injected more money . Also looks like that eBay seller flips cars . It likely need new front discs and pads pretty soon and possibly some suspension work . Check front and rear subframes for corrosion ( front is serious known issue, tap/poke test as visual looking is not good enough ) Subaru diesel engine is not always that great and has some well known issues . Not trying put you off, more a case of making you judge the car in a well thought out way. What you got realise is newer car you get the lower the component quality and lifespan is and more expensive and frequent the repairs .
  18. Mr. Portman, I just joined the forum to thank you, I followed your instructions, acquired the EEPROM programmer and a SOIC adapter "alligator" clamp, and was able to reprogram the sensor. I know this thread is old but I'm hoping you will read this. THANKS!! I am attaching a picture of my original BIN file with the errors, plus the sensor.
  19. Sorry, wrongly assumed my uploaded pdf would appear as text
  20. Yes i might list them cheap, better than skipping them if it helps someone out for a year or three. I used the car at the weekend on various roads, country bumpy pot holed etc, ride quality itself is little changed but damping feels better controlled which has made the vehicle noticeably more stable on the twisties and over undulations, all in all very pleased. I see KYB also make shockers for my Landcruiser, thats on air at the back with electrically adjustable shockers all round, adjustable shocks are scandalous cost OE only @ some £600 each, no worries about springs because air sets its own ride height via sensors. KYB replacements will be going on that when the time comes.
  21. Agree with you re the 360 camera. Had this on my previous Mitsubishi Eclipse which was VERY useful for parking etc. I am getting used to the passenger look-down view now so it does work. One thing that's bugging me is that the auto-dip doesn't seem to work! Probably something I'm not doing but the headlights are set on Auto, I set up the Adaptive Driving Beam but it doesn't seem to dip with approaching cars. Had the same problem on the Field we had on loan so must be something I'm missing! Otherwise loving it. Feels really secure on the road, enough umph for our needs and plenty of room inside. Seeing 30+ mpg (only on first fill!) so happy enough with that. Intend to tow with it soon so that should be interesting!
  22. Thanks for the post. Just for those who are also searching, here are some things to look for STI ej207 injectors are pink which can be seen if use a torch (wrx ones are blue but obviously the sti injectors can be swapped as an upgrade) Red inlet manifold but obviously could be painted or swapped There is a sticker on the bottom of the left hand side timing belt cover as your looking at the engine which will say ej207 or ej205 but it is likely the sticker would be faded or gone If you remove the timing belt covers it will have the avcs cam pulleys (variable valve timing) if it is an ej207 however I believe the later wrx engines had avcs but I am unsure. The avcs also has a solenoid on the top of the cylinder head. The ej207 uses a closed deck / semi closed deck block which has hatch marking on the engine casing somewhere I believe but not 100% certain. If anyone can confirm these points / update any mistakes for future reference it would be appreciated
  23. found the correct head torques....nothing like the suggestions from videos.
  24. Another newbie here. Please forgive me if I'm not doing this the right way Am looking for a replacement motor for the sunroof on my 2015 Outback. I have the part number. Cam anyone help me with a good place to look? Many thanks Forest Walk
  25. welcome, the only daft question is the one not asked 😄
  26. Evening all, Please forgive the probably daft questions... What engine oil, diff oil, gearbox oil and coolant would you knowledgeable folk recommend for a 2007 2.0 auto? I bought it last week from my elderly neighbour. 41,000 miles, Last stamp in the service book is June 2020, and I want to change all the fluids over the coming months to make sure everything is in good condition. I've never had a scooby before, this flat 4 malarkey is all new! Any info will be very useful, thank you. All the best, Pete.
