  4. Would appreciate any advice on best way to sell an unused 'as new' spare alloy wheel (incl tyre) for a 2018 Outback. I'm not a social media user, so prefer not to sign up to Facebook etc, and wondered if there was a list of any local Subaru car meets? Any alternative suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you.
  5. Hi all, I recently had an issue with the control arm of my 2005 Subaru legacy 3.0R estate. It failed and the wheel ripped out the lambda sensor. The control arm has been replaced and i have an aftermarket lambda sensor to fit. The only problem is that the wheel ripped off the original plug connector. I therefore have bare wires that lead to the ECU. The aftermarket lambda sensor has generic wire colours so i don't know which wires to connect to the correct spade connectors in the sensor plug. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the which coloured wires go from the ECU to the lambda sensor? Your help would be appreciated Thanks in advance
  6. Hello. I am new to the owners club. I have had two Forester STi over the years and have loved them both. My current car is an '06 plate in silver. My son has recently passed his test and has bought a car, so room on the drive has become squeezed. I am looking to sell my Forester...but where's the best place to advertise it? It's had a recent new clutch and has done c. 125K miles. Still pulling like a train, as it has after market air filter, radiator shield and anti-roll bars, plus an after market exhaust (all of which fitted in Japan prior to shipping). Advice gratefully received!
  7. No problem at all to ask, hopefully you have some luck finding one 😄
  8. tbh it really depends on how long its been sat and how lucky you are, it's gonna be step by step to check what state things are in before moving on. Full fluid change (coolant, engine, oil, gearbox, diff etc etc), fuel in the tank will need draining and replacing, fuel pump in the tank, fuel filter in the engine bay, all belts, tyres (as im assuming multiple years) all filters, prob spark plugs as well. I would sugest first making sure you can hand crank the engine so you know its not siezed, Prob then worth doing the engine oil and filter, collant, fuel and fuel filter then see if you can get oil pressure before then trying to fire it up. If you cant get it started could mean there are more serious issues at which point your then into is it worth pulling the engine etc etc. A bad example could be if it was stored without proper coolant and just had water in it. If so it could well have frozen and split the heater matrix, lifted the head etc etc Additionaly a leakdown test would be a good idea. !!!!!!!!!Make sure you crank the engine over without letting it start to get a good flow and good pressure before trying to start it!!!!!!!. After that its prob a case of seeing what happens, you may find lots of dfferent fluid leaks (be very carefull of anything that might catch fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!) from withered pipes, failed rubber seals etc etc, all you can really do its see how it goes. If you get to the stage of test driving it, be very carfull of failing brakes and leaking suspension when you drive it. i'd advise very gradual steps.
  9. Hi, has anyone had any luck with this issue. I’ve have exactly the same issue and have been told it’s now internally locked and need to be replaced as there is no way around this point.
  10. Hi All, looking for some advice, My mother bought this car second hand, but quite new, a long time ago with about 10,000 miles on the clock. She only drove it for a short while then put it in the garage. It is still looks as new. Have not tried to start it as not sure of any precautions I need to take after it being stored for so long. Not sure what to do with it, any Idea of its worth, will it ever be a collectors item etc? Thanks Derek
  11. I'm reluctantly selling my lovely rust free 2001 STI. With the EJ207 engine the one with forged pistons from the factory. Mated to Subaru's Six speed manual gearbox (cogs bigger than the 5 speed) delivered through Subaru's asymmetric four wheel drive system it's a serious machine. Japanese domestic market(they kept the best specs to themselves) Wagon in World Rally Blue with the correct gold alloy wheels. Full STI interior with wonderful comfy STI bucket seats. Momo steering wheel as standard. Car as it came from factory, so standard. Never been chipped or mapped. Full history Japanese & UK. Engine: Subaru EJ207 flat four turbo. STI overhead intercooler with manual/automatic cool water spray. Gearbox: STI 6 speed manual. Transmission: Subaru asymmetric permanent four wheel drive. Bodywork: in World Rally Blue with 17' STI gold alloys. STI side skirts & twin rear spoilers Interior: half leather with Alcantara STI seats. Blue Alcantara door inserts. Momo leather steering wheel. ICE: CD/Mini disc/radio. & The sound of turbo whistle Overall the car is in excellent condition when you consider it's 23 years old. I would keep it but have decided to live abroad permanently & can't ship it out due to an import ban in Thailand. In this spec there was only 2 ever imported out of the 442 ever made so a really special rare car. 13. This seller does them (Heated and wide view versions available) https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_ssn=car-parts-market&store_name=carpartsmarket&_oac=1&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 If you in a jam for saturday MOT just get best size match glass from a local parts factor (avoid halfords and ECP whenever possible) and fit that with some double sided foam pads just to get through MOT then fit proper specific model one after MOT .
  14. Hi, Subaru Forester 2012 Boxer Diesel Wingmirror glass needed asap. Halfords doesn't have it. Looked on ebay/amazon/euro car parts and many more sites including abroad so if you have a second hand mirror please let me know or if you can get me the glass cut to size. I need to source some glass to fit my broken wingmirror glass (not housing) for my MOT on Saturday afternoon. If you can help please reply. Thanks!
  15. Hi, all. Firstly let me apologise in advance if this is frowned upon but the reason I have joined this forum is to try and find someone with a 1999ish WRC Impreza lookalike around the Peterborough area who’d consider driving me eldest son to his Prom in a few months time. He’s quite into rallying and recently purchased the Richard Burns Monte Carlo RC Impreza from Tamiya. Obviously we’d be happy to pay you something for your time, fuel, etc. Please let me know if you think you can help and sorry again if this is a no-no. I meant no offence.
  16. Sorted it out 😀 I figured out the spring was broken so that is why it was not working. I put the new one in and all error lights and codes went away by themselves. All the best, maybe this will help someone else
  17. I'd expect to see the reservoir near the offside front strut tower. Left hand side as you view the engine.
  18. Hi, Hopefully someone can help me please! I got 3 warning lights on the dash- engine light, electronic park brake and flashing cruse control and the code p0409 on the code reader (exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit ) So I have cleaned the egr valve and tried again but lights and code come back. EGR moves freely now and motor works when I apply power. Not sure what to look at next ? is there a sensor in the egr or ? Other codes that come up are P0401 (resurculation flow insufficient detected) & P0403 (Exhaust gas Resurculation control circuit) Also does anyone know which fuse the egr runs on ? (as I haven't found a detailed enough diagram.) Thank you in advance Simon
  19. My steering has got intermittently heavy, so I thought I'd check the fluid levels. Thing is, I can't for the life of me find the reservoir. All the online videos show it being just behind the air filter box, but I have nothing there. Am I being daft, or do I have electronic steering?
  20. Good day all. Will a standard seat belt extension fit an Outback 2017 or 2018. Or is the seatbelt long enough for a very portly guy? Cheers, Hofmeister
  21. Sorry to say it could be one or both of the secondary air valves?! If you replace those there can’t be much else to replace on the system….. My local independent has a page on the subject…..not sure if it helps though as I think you have tried most?! http://www.subaru4you.co.uk/engine/secondaryair.shtml#:~:text=The secondary air is supplied,Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV). Regards Stephen
  22. Picked it up today (Touring/Red) and like it - some hill work and max speeds up to 60 and today's consumption was 3.6-3.7 miles/kwh which I am quite happy with given that a lot of that was in normal mode - battery was full from the dealer showing a max range of 269 miles with the heating set at 18.5 auto eco mode. As a comparison the Kia Soul I have run for the last 2.75 years is doing 4.3-4.4 miles/kwh after 38000 miles.
  23. Drat! New pump arrived, I fitted it (with the obligatory nut dropped, never to be seen again - luckily I had them in stock). Pump is clearly working, with a loud noise which stops after about 15 seconds or so. Clearing the code and starting the engine, the Check Engine and flashing Cruise lights return after about 15 seconds, and the P2444 code is back. Clearly the pump isn't stuck on as the code says, so what could be the actual problem? I'm getting really fed up with this, especially with the MOT approaching!
  24. Now reduced to £2095. This is a great car for not a lot of dosh! I've had no one come to look at it yet - please give me a shout if you have any questions at all.
  25. don't expect to be driving any newer car for 20 years as most uneconomical repair in less than 15 years . I not biggest believer in 1 owner cars being that special, scenario is that 1 owner can get tight on expenditure in later years of ownership while a second owner would of injected more money . Also looks like that eBay seller flips cars . It likely need new front discs and pads pretty soon and possibly some suspension work . Check front and rear subframes for corrosion ( front is serious known issue, tap/poke test as visual looking is not good enough ) Subaru diesel engine is not always that great and has some well known issues . Not trying put you off, more a case of making you judge the car in a well thought out way. What you got realise is newer car you get the lower the component quality and lifespan is and more expensive and frequent the repairs .
  26. Good Evening Guys I would really appreciate your help I'm really interested in buying a forester as I live in rural Northumberland which gets its fair share of rain, snow and where some B roads resemble farm tracks 🙂 This 2014 Subaru is up for sale only a few miles away. My brother (a mechanic of 40 years and supervisor of the workshop at a local non-Subaru dealership) dismissed it immediately. He said the mileage was too high and the seller was simply looking to 'get shot of it'. 2014 Subaru Forester XC Premium Edition 2.0 Boxer Diesel Fulltime 4wd 1 Owner From New Full Subaru Service History 2 Keys HPI Clear MOT Expires Nov 2024 This Subaru is not only a fantastic spec car but it is also a 1 owner car with Full Subaru Service History all done by the same Subaru Dealer AF Noble & Son. 09/2015 12,353 Miles | 04/2016 24,866 Miles | 12/2016 34,575 Miles | 10/2017 45,410 Miles | 10/2018 55,327 Miles | 10/2019 65,755 Miles | 10/2020 74,036 Miles | 10/2021 81,883 Miles | 10/2022 82,594 Miles | 10/2023 98,749 Miles. There isn't a better Forester on the market you simply can't get better than 1 owner full main dealer history. I've paid for a full check and the it checks out - services etc. It is well below market value but he's a private seller so there's no warranty etc. included. Any money saved I would be happy to pay for a full service/new set of matching tyres etc. - I'd love to be driving this for the next 20 years! Should I take it for a test drive, pay for a vehicle inspection or give it a miss and keep looking? Your advice would be so appreciated. Many thanks Martin https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156110468084?itmmeta=01HS9CJ1139PE1J3SAEPVXY76C&hash=item2458e8b3f4:g:utAAAOSw-ipl7hP9&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4BwPNsNoLOYmA6k6r0ZmM%2BEf7KMOpvrEVzWnQpi1gZk%2FQHxk7%2FIVyYw2UBXhSOl84qHUEFqrlrKCnsE1QzJ08q%2FSJd27Ewhjati1DoIXoRdTUmMUoPAgK9%2FvVa1O9kCQ9KHY1IWLzG2ZZeQATL7lq62ffMQEbsF0DPIzqXXjDGI%2BIlb%2FsZBiaGmi7SBup0jF1CDcf7K%2BZcheaSWRNulFEImHKkyU5LpNB5czfNxruTiv8%2FRoNjyd5htRAdj3I%2F88QrWa%2BcuWcLn4POr4yRlL4O1AuRDYyVN1cWBalOsExDWy|tkp%3ABk9SR9qQyKzKYw
