  2. Hi, Nice to meet you all. Im hoping this group is still relatively alive as I havent seen many posts come up. Although its not strictly a subaru, it is! Im currently building an old 70s kit car - but subaru style. It is full 2005 wiring / engine etc and ive got it cranking (no fuel line connected to build a little oil pressure). Anyway, Im at the point of getting hold of the charcoal canister and connecting the rats nest of rubber lines. Ive worked on MANY bmws but this is my first Subaru and it just seems like someone had a rubber hose budget. Does anyone fancy giving me a mornings assistance in Scunthorpe - there will be beers or a take away or something in it for you and the chance to see what I'd definately class as an impossible project formally described as a puzzle, in the dark with no box!.. My colleague calls it Frank! (enstein) Its just one of those things i want to accomplish for me and my little boy and bar one very helpful seller of parts, EVERYTHING is self taught on the drive! If i had stripped the engine etc out, this would be easy as is have a reference point but right now i dont. If youre interested in having a bru, a giggle and laughing at me, chuck me a message and we can organise something. The plan is eventually to get to some car shows and meet up with various groups 🙂 Cheers Steve

  6. I bought my Subaru XV today and it came with yoko’s on it already. Need replacing so and not sure what to buy as a replacement. Something with good tread would be great without compromising things like rubbing etc
  7. Hi guys and gals i picked up my Subaru XV 2.0 petrol , auto, today, after a long bus and train journey down to derby from my home in the Scottish Borders. After a week of organising, I got to see it in person for the first time and I was not disappointed. Everything I hoped for and more. I got to drive it four hours home to get use to the car and buttons. Now my brain is turning to accessories and how to make it look cooler than it already does…..any tips or advice for the best places to buy stuff would be appreciated. Already read a few areas on the forum, looking for inspiration…..but any advice on websites, or good upgrades would be appreciated. Dave
  8. I believe it will be drive by wire rather than cable so could be the throttle position sensor, def need to get it looked at.
  9. My 2006 forester has a weird knocking sound when I'm on full steering lock. I took it into a Subaru dealer and they said it was the power steering and was totally normal. It never used to have this problem so I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do about it. Also where's a good place to source parts? My cd player and fog lights don't work and need replacing.
  10. Just had all of my glowplugs replaced for 1500 on my 2015 Forester which didn't help. Then they changed the control unit for the glowplugs.. only to start getting the errors for plugs again a month later. Had a few replaced only 2 years earlier. I only drive 10k a year. Any ideas what might be causing this to renew constantly?
  11. Hi All Samba owners , does anyone have a right hand side rear engine mount please , or can anyone point me in the right direction to attain one ? Best Regards Marc
  12. All remaining items are being recycled with scrap man. No other parts available.
  13. Hi Gordon, I remember seeing this plate when you sold the Impreza. Would have loved to have had the funds to bid. I’ve since bought a silver impreza 2000 and would be interested to know what sort of price you’re thinking for the plate? Tom
  14. No clutch is fine. A friend suggested it night be a sticking throttle cable
  15. Hi there - I have put some money down to buy a 2006 Forester 2.5XT from an indie dealer in Tunbridge Wells - I am considering getting an independent inspection just for peace of mind and it's unlikely I can get down there to look at it myself as live miles away. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a local Scooby specialist who knows what to look for to have a look. I'm not worried about anything in particular - just wondering if such a thing was possible as I say for my peace of mind. I could do the usual RAC check but I know it's always better for a specialist to have a look if poss. thanks so much for your time - and looking forward to (hopefully) being a 1st time scooby owner!
  16. its just a cable so it's either snapped or come off at one of the ends. Does it open with the key?
  17. By revs climbing do you mean the clutch is slipping? or throttle sticking?
  18. Hi I hadn't driven my car in several weeks and after jump starting it I took it for a spin up the motorway I noticed when I was driving at motorway speed when I put the clutch down to change gear the revs climbed so quickly to the read line. I was worried it would damage the engine as I know the 2.5 engine has reliability issues. The engine management light came on and I nursed it home. When I tried starting the car after parking tge battery was dead. The battery was replaced a few months back Cam anyone help or gad a similar issue
  19. Hi I own a 06 plate wrx 2 5 impreza. I noticed that when I pull the latch to open the boot it does not open. Does anyone know how to fix this and is it expensive?
  20. Thanks. If I end up eventually visiting them, I'll leave some feedback on here. I can't find another independent Subie specilaist anywhere else in the North-East of England.
  21. Im sure your right but i'd be anxious in case I got it wrong and messed it up. I will think about it though, dont like to be beaten, normally I come round to trying things. Ill let yu know if I do. M
  22. Well done, good minimal effort/cost fix is always a nice ending 🙂 If you don't know your 4 digit pin code I would recommend setting a new easy remember 4 digit pin using instructions for programming new pin found at very end of the pdf document .
  23. does the dab radio display the programme details etc?
  24. Never even heard of them before tbh, loooking at companies house they hyave been around since 2013, but thats about it.
  25. update. I took out, cleaned and refitted the new battery, was about to try and re programme it and by chance tried it again first and hey presto! it worked. phew! saved me some anxious moments. So Mr B you were correct, must have been dodgy contact. thanks for taking the time to reply. Regads Motty
