    New arrival

Hi all, Not been on much lately as been somewhat busy on preparations. On Sunday night at 12:35 am we were blessed with the safe arrival of our baby daughter Jessica. Nearly two weeks late she was a whopping 10lbs 13 ounces. Mum and daughter are home and doing well. I've forgotten what sleep used to be though lol. Note to self, spend more time in the garage lol. Hopefully will get over to a meet soon Cheers Alan
  2. Well bit of naff news. One of the rear tyres was loosing a bit of pressure so took it in to have it checked. Turns out the rim is split and buckled :-( remember catching a bit of a pot hole a while back but not thought anything of it. Back on the original rims now as I'll have to see if I can pick up another wheel. Apart from that all is well (touch wood). Cheers Alan
  3. Having had one of those beauties for a while I cried at what they did to the esprit :-( Not surprised it did ok as mine was ace in the snow lol Cheers Alan

    snowing

We went to my sisters near Loughborough yesterday. Snowed quite heavily and had three inches or so laid. Had a fun drive home through countryside first and then motorways. The scooby never missed a bit, hardly squirmed and got through everything! Very impressed. It plowed it's way through the outer lanes on the motorway without much effort. Was able to keep a nice constant speed and it was ace. Only stopped at m18 due to stuck lorries. Once passed them we were straight home. Bugger all snow once we got to scunny! Once again it has surprised me as an awesome bit of kit. Would be even better wih some AT tyres lol. Cheers Alan
  5. Hiya, I work in Hessle so not overly far away :-) Welcome :-) Cheers Alan
  6. Had to take the trailer across the field today to sort some branches and stuff out. To say it was a tad boggy was an understatement! You could tell it was on road tyres though as they filled up almost instantly but it plowed through regardless. It looks like a right farm vehicle at the minute so am going to have to get the jet wash on it ASAP. Still it has done the job it was bought for so am well happy at the minute. Never got to fit my reverse camera though :-( Cheers Alan
  7. Went to pick up an engine crane this morning from the next village (bargain at £40!!!) and it was quite icy this morning. Very impressed with the way the outback handled the ice on the road (it's never seen a grittier down it ever lol). Think I'd have had to turn the traction control off to get it slipping properly lol. Very planted. Be interesting to see how it copes with snow lol. Also my rear reversing camera number plate holder thing has turned up. Hopefully get to wire it up tomorrow. It should plug into the back of my new head unit so will be handy lol. Who needs a range rover :-) Cheers Alan
  8. Hey guys, Not been on for a fair bit so nice to be back. Finally got the scoob back from the wife and given her the Audi back. Currently it is filthy and looks like I've been a reccy vehicle in a rally! The wife's bump is growing rapidly but she is having a really tough time of it. Roll on march so at least she can get well again (even though sleep will be a distant memory). Not done a lot with the outback but have bought an early 1960 mini so having a bit of fun getting that ready to rebuild. Reckon I'll be a dab hand at welding when I'm done lol. We got any meets coming up?? Cheers Alan
  9. Going to get to drive it to Scarborough later so that will be nice. Oh was on the tele last night :-) motors tv did the castle Combe autumn classic and our race was on. In shot a couple of times but get some good mentions on the commentary. Dunno if they will repeat it though. Cheers Alan
  10. Took it off road on a bit of grassy paddock lol. Did it's job perfectly lol Cheers Alan
  11. One thing I did when cutting a hole in the wing of my fronty was cover it in masking tape. Made the marking out easier and the drilling/filing process (I didn't have a hole saw so had to do it the old fashioned way lol) much easier. Once you have the centre line you could always measure the diagonals to test it is square? Cheers and good luck :-) Cheers Alan
  12. Tbh I went for the outback diesel. Seems ok so far (touch wood) and if driven carefully will easily average 45 to 47 mpg. I have seen over 50 on the inboard computer thing. Power is nice and cruising on the motorway is very comfortable. I don't think you'd be disappointed in any of them tbh. Cheers Alan
  13. Love mine. Looking forward to winter to see how well it plays :-)
