  1. I have a Subaru Forester 2010 reg and about a month ago whist on holiday down in Devon a horrible grinding noise developed, took it to a local garage who diagnosed it as a load sensing valve link, (not sure that is the correct name but that is what mechanic called it) It told me it was nothing serious and just sprayed it with lube and within 24 hours the noise had gone. Roll forward a month and the noise has come back, the car was due in for a service today anyway so asked them to look at and spay some more lube on as a temp measure and to quote me for a replacement part. They quoted me £300 for the part alone plus £40 fitting, I have seen the part and it is tiny, thought i would check online first to see if i could get it cheaper or any other suggestions. From what i am told this part sensed loads or if the car is towing a trailer and adjusts the headlights so that they don't shine up into the air, i don't tow a trailer or carry any particularly heavy loads except two young kids and suitcases for when we go on holiday.
  2. Problem solved battery was not seated correctly and i must have given key a slight knock and dislodged it further.
  3. I purchased my first Subaru Forester on Monday, its a 2010 plate 2d Navplus with keyless card. It came with two keycards. When i went out today to my car the main key no longer worked although was fine yesterday, do batteries just die so quick? Spare key is fine, I notice there is also a little key you can pull out if battery dies and drivers door has a keyhole but can you also start the car with a key as i can't see anywhere to insert it. Going along to my local dealer tomorrow, luckily only 5 miles from where i live and rang to check they have batteries in stock etc. and receptionist told me that i would only be charged for battery unless key needs to be reprogrammed, is this likely if it was working yesterday?
  4. Picked it up today and WOW :D very impressed so far although the hard bit is trying to work out how everything works, in particular the sat nav. Also it is very shiny and sparkly shame to get it dirty but inevitable!
  5. Brought my first Subaru yesterday, Forester 2.0D XS NavPlus 2010 with 48K and pick it up on Monday, so can't wait. Always liked the Subaru's and living in the countryside and as most of my daily commute is down country lanes and over high ground which might be subject to a bit of snow and ice during the winter months I decided it was time to replace my trusty 11 year old VW Passat for something more capable of staying on the road.
