  1. Use your cars Applied Model code here... https://legacypic.uk/identification/
  2. I've been putting together a register and photograph gallery of different Legacy models and colour combinations. This is mostly Gen.2 versions as that is my main area of interest, but other models and even a few Imprezas are also included. If anyone would like to add photos of their own car then you are more than welcome, but to make sure everything is filed in the correct place you will need your car's VIN. The full VIN will not be shown on any page, it is just used to make sure every car is correctly identified and indexed for quick and easy searching. Link here.. https://legacypic.uk/photographs/index.php Thanks, Adam.
  3. HID headlights were standard on all but the lowest spec Legacys in Japan for the 2005/6 model year. Your comment about "Angel Eyes" would suggest that someone has removed the standard lights and fitted some cheap rubbish aftermarket items.
  4. I run a 1999 N/A 2.0 Legacy as my every day car, and as said above, you won't get much in the way of horse power. However, the suspension set up is basically the same as the turbo models but softer with thinner anti-roll bars etc. I've replaced all the rubber bushes on mine with aftermarket ones designed for the Impreza Turbo of the same age, so while it may be slow the handling is lovely and sharp on the corners.
  5. Hi all, not been on here for a while as my Subaru is off the road waiting an engine rebuild, however a few days ago I was at the Nurburgring with a few Subaru friends and took a few photos that you may like. All three cars belong to the same family, and are shown together on the Nordschleife and part of the abandoned Sudschleife. Cars are a UK Impreza Sport Special, a JDM Legacy GT-B Limited and a JDM Legacy RS.
  6. That's certainly unusual and interesting! Is it stamped on the VIN plate as a prototype, or was it built with a normal type-R Chassis number / Applied Model number and modified later? If so, I'm guessing the VIN plate still shows an EJ20 engine number?
  7. Pink badge not original on a Legacy. The Generation 2 cars (1993-1998) had a dark green badge for the GT and early RS (250PS or 260PS depending on age) and a red badge for the later GT-B and RS (260PS or 280PS depending on transmission). Those were the only cars that had coloured badges, everything else was standardised. If you are looking for a JDM Generation 2 car, read this for more information... https://legacypic.uk/history/legacygen2.php I'm guessing from your second post you are after something much newer than those. The fourth generation cars had paddle shift for the automatics and came with 260PS EJ20X twin-scroll engines and the Porsche 5-speed box, which is miles better than the Subaru designed 4-speed automatic gearboxes used in generation 1-3 cars. There are loads around to choose from. Search for "Subaru Legacy 2.0GT" on eBay!
  8. Sorry, sold some time ago.
  9. Well that didn't quite go to plan... Due to problems with my website host I have had to move to a new URL. The new URL is: https://legacypic.uk/infopages/ Hopefully this will be the last time it has to move.
  10. I have one... It was bought to be a full-size spare for my (now ex) wife's RB5 many years ago yet long after she and the car have gone it's still in the shed. Are you looking for a single wheel or a full set? Adam.
  11. The link I posted at the start of this thread is long dead, but a while ago I did start a new website of my own which was aimed at owners of older JDM Legacys. Once again life got in the way and the project was not finished, but I did manage to trace every Applied Model Code for JDM Legacy Gen 1-3 inc and some Gen 4 too. These are now in an online database here... http://rber.net/appliedmodel.php A lot of codes have multiple vehicle results, but some vehicles have additional information about option codes if you click on the results. This is my own website so it won't vanish if a client goes broke, but additionally it won't be updated unless other projects go cold and I get bored! Adam
  12. Could also be an air leak in one of the many vacuum hoses that control the switch from single-turbo to twin-turbo mode. If they are still the original there is a good chance one or more has cracked with age and the ECU has detected a pressure inbalance (code 66) and put the car into safe mode.
  13. Bottom end rebuild is a major job. Takes the best part of a day just to get the engine out!
  14. I have to agree, the only way to get extra boost safely is to remap the car. In theory the ECU will read the boost pressure with the MAP sensor and adjust the fuelling to match, but by using an after-market boost controller you are bypassing the boost limit so there is a good change you will just confuse things. Also, as Matt said, you will have no way on knowing if the extra boost is causing pre-detonation, and that can cause huge damage.
  15. It is generally agreed that the safe maximum for a standard engine in 1.4 bar. Anything more than that and you will put too much load on the internals and you risk failure of the main bearings or, on older cars, the head gaskets.
