  1. I did it with mine. Cars a 05 blob wrx. Got a new key internal from subaru, 38 quid. Martin at sheff sub service sync'd it to my alarm/imobilizer. I also bought a separate key fob, and got that sync'd up. All worked fine and not expensive.
  2. Yeah interior is virtually identical, seats in the blob are slightly different, a bit better for me as im a big chap, the hawk seats get quite uncomfy on a long run. I had a classic for 9 years, high milage on it but very little problems, just the usual consumables, it got crashed into tho and thats when i ended up with the hawk, its nice but have too much paranoia about the 2.5, the coolant tank is starting to fill up after a run, apparently a sign of headgaskets going? I hope ive made the better choice going back to a 2.0 ltr, its certainly a cheaper option than getting the hawk forged.....
  3. Im not a chav but a big kid at heart lol, love the look of it! Only thing i plan is a dump valve, make sure underneath is cleaned and sealed. No other plans as of yet. With it just being the wrx, i dont want to push it to its limits, rather keep it at a safe level. Its got a nice afterburner raptor, tho i think ill need a bung/baffle for when im starting it up at 2.30am heading off to work......
  4. Well after owning my hawkeye for nearly a year, and having concerns about the 2.5, i had a look at a 55plate blob wrx ppp, great condition, full history, so decided to go for the swap.... good job too as the hawkeye is showing signs of headgasket failure! Shame as its been such a nice car, i do kind of miss how the older 2.0ltrs drive tho.
  5. Good to see all is ok. I saw that car at jcts, very nice. Same for me too, underside needs a clean up. Getting it done and sealed soon as i can. Very much worth keeping on top of.
  6. Both jason and his mechanic chris are good blokes. Hes first person id go to buying another scoob. The first i had off him was a classic, lasted me 9 years no problems untill it got crashed into! I went to him this summer for my new one, got a hawk wrx. Hope this car lasts as well as my old one.
  7. Where in rotherham are you getting the car from? If its JCT's hes very reliable. Got both my cars from him.
  8. Has anyone else had a recall letter through today? Ive had one from subaru saying all cars from 2004-07 have a issue in which front passenger airbag inflators deteriorate over time and needs replacing. In the event of a frontal impact it wont deploy properly.
  9. Personally id get some different wheels, i like multi-spokes in black. Id put a sti spoiler on and front splitter if it was me. All down to personal preference tho really.
  10. I had a classic for the last 9 years, was completely standard, and the best car i ever had, however, rot was terrible, it started as a little rear arch bubbling, but underneath the panels and hard to see areas were really bad. Id say its gonna be very hard to find a good standard classic now. Id be tempted to save some more money up and go for a blob wrx.
  11. Thanks for replys. Theres a couple of blob wrxs at a garage ive always got my imprezas from and he is reliable in terms of getting good car. Only had the hawk since august and it is a nice drive, very tempted to go have a look at the blobs.
  12. I had a classic for 9 years before the hawk. I do like how the 2.5 is smoother and that low down torque. If it wasnt for the engine doubts, id have no interest in getting rid.....
  13. I own a hakeye wrx, completely standard, 80k miles on it. Had it 3 months love the car, full past service history and no problems. Cant get the thought out back of my mind about the weak engine problems ive been reading about. Seen a 05 plate blob wrx ppp for sale(great history, 1 owner), am i being over paranoid by wanting to swap? I do love my hawk but dont want to face engine going pop. Would anyone else in my shoes swap the car?
  14. Thanks for the warm welcome. Not sure why i didnt sign up to this page sooner since being a subaru owner for the past decade!
  15. Yeah id be worried if it started getting through oil. Ive had it 2 months now, driven to cornwall and back(im near sheffield), skegness and back and a few hundred miles doing short journeys. Oil level hasnt dropped. Going to book in for a winter service soon anyway, i go to sheffield subaru service, always trusted them with my last car, will get a full check over.
