  1. OK, so the first pic is the offending part in its current position. The second pic is with it at 180% turned and the indicator cancelling function works as it should in this position but the steering wheel will not fit back on over the wires in this position, included pic of wheel to show gaps. I thought of unscrewing the unit and but it is connected at the bottom by a wire which seems like its sealed into the unit so no go there. Finally, the last pic shows where the steering lock engages which seems dodgy as hell to me the car drives straight and the panel gaps are good so there doesn't seem to be signs of a crash and it's not on the history.
  2. Hi Jay, I have some free time tomorrow so I plan to change the knock sensor and get the wheel off and take a look. Having looked at a few pics online I'm not confident that the boss can be turned the opposite way but I'll take a look. I'll take a look to see if there's a pin that can be removed to turn the shaft instead but I've not attempted something like that before. My last option might be an aftermarket boss and wheel as you mentioned you can turn those ones. That is if the peg that cancels the indicators is on the aftermarket boss and that it doesn't just bolt onto the original one already on the shaft?
  3. OK then, After much reading it seems likely it's the wrong boss or it's fitted incorrectly. So.... Any of you guys who have fitted aftermarket steering wheels know if the boss can be fitted the opposite way IE 180 degrees?
  4. Hi guys, OK it seems the steering column on my UK turbo my98 is either from a jdm or it's on the wrong way round. I know this because I've tried 2 different indicator units and have the same problem which is that the indicator will not self cancel unless you turn the wheel over 180 degrees which points to the cancellation peg on the column being on the wrong side. So the question is, is it possible to turn the steering column 180 degrees and is it a hard job or do I need a new column? Or if there are any other fixes you guys know of? I know it sounds trivial but it's a real pain in the !Removed!!
  5. OK, so a quick update. Got a new stalk unit and popped it in but same problem...... If I turn the wheel over a full rotation it will cancel but under normal driving conditions it won't budge. I'm starting to wonder if it has a steering column from a jdm (as Savage mentioned they have the indicators on the other side).
  6. Cheers Stants, I watched 30 seconds of that video yesterday but turned it off when I realised it wasn't the same fault however just watched it all and it seems a pretty easy job. From looking at pics the stalk housing switch looks plastic or nylon so I think I'm gonna try swapping the housing out first. There's a few on eBay going cheap. Thanks.
  7. Hi guys, I've now been all over the internet looking for any info on this and I'm can't find a single post! The problem is that the indicator stalk on my 98 UK Impreza doesn't cancel 98% of the time. I know it's only a minor issue but I've not long bought the vehicle (my first) as a bit of a project and want to fix all the little niggles. The question is if I buy a new indicator stalk will that solve the problem or is there a cancellation peg on the steering column that can be adjusted and has anyone ever done it or will I have to buy a new one? I'd rather try and repair it myself rather than send it to a garage. Thanks for reading!
  8. Hi guys, I need a little help if you will. I have a 98 turbo 2000 with sticking indicator stalks, I was about to order a replacement stalk but then I wondered if that would fix the problem? Does anyone know if instead there is a cancelling peg on the steering column that needs to be adjusted? Thanks in advance.
