  1. Its a shame really I really like the look of the hatches. I just dont think i could spend 3k plus on a engine failure that shouldnt happen.
  2. Will get an older subaru then. I dont fancy a bigger money pit than they already are. Maybe an old legacy.
  3. I intended to buy one witg full subaru or specualist history. From whar i can gather the wrx isnt at prone to it. I really do want to get one its just a hard decision.
  4. This is true but not common faults all cost 3+k to put right. Theyre not the cheapest to maintain as it is but I dont mind that and the occassional little issues and stuff but not engine failure. I will have a look over it compared to other cars. Just seems like an expensive common fault for something already expensive.
  5. Maybe I wont go for a scoob then and go for something different. I dont want to fork out 3k plus fixing a car worth only 5 ish. Thats ridiculous. I know its mainly stis that go and not wrx but now im really put off of them so I will stick with othee brands that hold some reliability. I know all cars have issues but not that sort of expensive.
  6. Hello I am very close to purchasing a subaru wrx hatchback not an sti. I have been told lots of horror stories about them and ringlands and bearings etc and I am looking to spend around 5-7k max and have seen a few with 50-70k miles with full service history either subaru oe specialist. Cambelt done etc. Now is this issue exxagerated and if the cars now on 50k plus miles wouldnt the issue have already been fixed if this was the case. I mean I came here as a subaru forum seemed like the best place for honest opinion as opposed to everyone else slating the hatch wrx. My friend got an rx8 and eveeyone said the same to him he boght one that had a rebuild and its been running fine 2 years now. So anyway opinions please as I dont want to spend that money to spend the same again fixing it. I do like the look of them though I have been so tempted to go get one. I want a hatch as opposed to saloon etc.
