Diesel Outback Glow Plug Issue/Removal

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have the warning lights on and this lead to a trip to garage. I Thought that it was the handbrake but it was glow plug issue. Now I have three of the four replaced but as the mechanic was about to remove the fourth it was not for moving. It will have to be taken out at some stage but has anyone else had this problem and how did it be solved. I have also now found a person who can remove it so that it wont require the engine to be taken apart and removed etc.

Update to the above hope to get the fourth glow plug replaced within the next few weeks. Did a trial run for striping everything out so that the plug can be removed. All you need is about 1 hour 10mm and 12 spanner and screwdriver and good light. Here is pics to show were glow plugs are. This is the driver's side of the car. Air box and ecu need to come out

Well the glow plug is now out and the new one in. Also had to replace the 50 amp fuse as it was blown. Once that all done reconnected battery let sit for 10 minutes and all back to normal again. Glad to get that done. Just a quick question to throw out there would you consider replacing them again at say 120k just to keep things right or just leave alone.

Hi, could you direct me to where I can find the glow plug relay/fuse as I can't seem to find it. I have replaced my glow plugs but still need to do relay. Any help would be great thanks. Gareth

Hi

The 50 amp Fuse is located in the engine compartment. It is within the engine bay fuse box. It should be a purple colour. Hope that helps.
