Thanks for the input guys. In the end I went for for a semi synthetic 5w30 as recommended by the book at the guys at Comma oils. I used a decent filter to, although the process for the change was kind of crazy because the oil shot out at such a rate from the sump, my oil container couldn't drink it fast enough and it started to overflow! I did have my oil mat down which helped but it still manage to get on the drive 😐 I'd never had this happen before using the same setup. Anyway it's done now and she purrs very nicely.

Hi guys, I wanted to purchase some oil online for my Legacy, after speaking to Len at Subaru 4 You he recommended a semi synthetic 10w/40 but online there are many different suggestions. Could I go far wrong with the 10w/40?

Cheers for the info chap. I’ve done many an oil change on older cars…I haven’t owned anything newer than 1990 in about ten years! I imagine it’s fairly straight forward but if I haven’t got a Haynes to hand, where can I go online to assist in some general service operations? Thanks

Ok well at least it’s not just me then. I was just asking general stuff at the moment. Specifically I will want to know how to perform an oil change and some general servicing on my Legacy soon. I’m sure I could find something on the search function about that. Cheers guys

Hi all, Signed up yesterday and noticed "discussions" aren't exactly flourishing. One or two replies on topics and threads stop dead. Is the forum quiet for a reason or do you have to wait a few days for replies and input?

Hi all, I’ve just stuck a post with photo in the introduction part of the forum. I hope it’s OK listing a few things here, I thought it’d be best instead of multiple posts. Firstly the Legacy is my first Subaru, I like the drive, it feels solid and well put together. I have the 2.0L 4WD setup and so far my only negative comment is that it feels underpowered. Once I get her moving however, if you’re a decent driver, you’ll make good progress. The car is standard with the exception of springs, cat back exhaust and an aftermarket air filter. Is it an understood opinion about the 2.0L or do I sound like I’m expecting too much from the boxer engine? She needs the air con re-gassing and I’ve been quoted £90 all in. I’ve never had to do it, so is this the going rate for the job or should I go elsewhere? Lastly Is there somewhere I should look on the forum for the basic maintenance info? I wanted to do an oil change and look at other procedures. I can’t think of anything else for now, thanks in advance!

I picked my first Subaru yesterday. Specifically a Japanese import 2.0L 4WD. Not exactly breathtaking performance but she’s beautiful to drive and pretty tidy. If i have the same forum, you may recognise it from the previous owner. I dropped in to say hello before bombarding you with questions!
