Found the details sent through from the dealers. Its marked in the first picture and was part 42084A. Easy to get but a bugger to install. Best of luck with it.

Hi all. Just had a run of issues with my 2010 diesel. It has gradually been using more and more fuel and the mpg has dropped down by 7mpg. Eventually found what I hope is the problem. The suction control valve on the fuel pump is prone to failing. It has some plating inside that corrodes and causes over fuelling. It often forces diesel into the sump and thins the oil and kills the engine. If you have noticed a drop in economy check your oil and see if the levels are up. Mine was way high so need to order a new one sensor on Monday. Subaru are aware of the issue but mentioned nothing about it when I spoke to them. They have them on back order with no date for when they will be in at £230!!! I will be getting mine elsewhere.

Hi all. My 2010 diesel Outback has a fuel leak and I cant see anywhere what the part is called that its leaking from. It is leaking behind the tank , above the rear near side wishbone. There is a metal bulb with a pipe in at the top and out at the bottom. It looks like that has corroded but what is it called? Any help would be much appreciated. Also has anyone replaced one before and is it a nightmare to get at it? Looks very tight up in there. Thanks Jim

Alarm sounds when locking car
Blazingblacksmith replied to Blazingblacksmith's topic in Subaru Outback Club
Thanks Greenmamba. It was indeed the switch on the other side that was bent. Now I just need to get to the bottom of the 6th gear not showing up on the dash. Dont know if it has any bearing on anything but its annoying. -

Alarm sounds when locking car

Thanks Mr B. Tried just pushing the bonnet switch by hand fully and still the same. Its not showing any doors open on the dash. Should it show the bonnet is open on the dash anywhere or is it just boot and doors shown? -
So just had a new abs pump fitted on my 2010 Outback diesel estate. It was a Legacy pump but all numbers etc matched so should be fine. When my wife got home from the garage and tried to lock the car with the remote it beeps loudly for about 30 seconds and then the alarm goes. Cant believe its anything to do with the abs pump but any ideas on what it could be. Also just noticed that it is not recognising going into 6th gear on the dash and just says its in 5th. Locking the car using the key works but then the alarm is not armed. Any ideas would be very welcome. Tried disabling the alarm by holding the unlock button on the drivers door and opening the door but that does nothing.

Hi. Does anyone know if an abs unit from a 2014 legacy would fit on the 2010 outback. All I can see in the images on the ad for the replacement one are the numbers for the pump body but there are no images of the control module. The numbers on the pump end are the same. Are there any differences in the control module? Thanks Jim

Battery disconnected while driving
Blazingblacksmith replied to Blazingblacksmith's topic in Subaru Outback Club
Had it checked out properly and the abs unit has a fault so will either need to replace or have it reconditioned. -
Any trailer that is heavy enough to make a difference needs to be braked by law so I dont see any reason to mod anything on the car. I certainly have never heard anyone doing anything like that before.

Even a bike rack on the back sets ours off. Does my nut in.

Battery disconnected while driving
Blazingblacksmith replied to Blazingblacksmith's topic in Subaru Outback Club
Went over to the garage today and the codes say that there is no power to the systems. Tried wiping the codes but still the lights are on. Going back tomorrow to see if we can get it on the ramp and have a good look to see if there are any loose wires or connections. So bored of car issues. Its the nicest car I have ever owned but its costing plenty sadly. -
Hi all. After recently getting my 2010 outback diesel back from the garage having had a new clutch fitted my wife returned home tonight and once parked tried to lock the car. Nothing happened and no lights or anything. Turns out that the negative terminal on the battery had not been tightened and the terminal had jumped off as she was driving home. I tightened it back up and now the abs light is on, the electronic parking brake warning light is on and the vehicle dynamics warning light is on. All staying on when the car is running. Could this be due to the terminal coming off? Could it have done any other damage? Thanks for any advice.

Just got home this morning at 9.15 after being taxied from Dover to Peebles in the Scottish Borders. 9 hours in a taxi and thankfully paid by insurance after a number of ***** ups on their part. The clutch was not all that bad when we started out but fully loaded with bikes, gear and 4 of us was too much and it lasted about 2 hours driving. And that was being super gentle. I just lost all gears on the motorway on Saturday morning on the way to the ferry. Insurance got us a hotel and my lovely car is left in France waiting to be returned sometime in the next 3 weeks!!! No hire cars to be had anywhere. Sat all day on Sunday waiting and by 12 on Monday we bolted for the train through to Paris, metro and then train to Calais, 7 hours. On the ferry and then taxi home. Home by 9.15am, changed and in the workshop working by 10.30. I am a bit bollixed now. Will let you know how it pans out. Thanks for the help.

Cheers Sandals. Ye It is getting worse and with 350km to the ferry in the morning we will see how it holds up. As long as I get it back to the uk I can get it recovered home but if I break down over here I am well goosed for work on Monday. Too many customers wanting gates to get held up here. If I take it easy on the small hilly roads to the motorway we should be fine.

Hello all. Just bought a 2010 outback about a month ago and now in France on holiday. I am a blacksmith and dont drive the car much as I am always in the van. Its a great car but started noticing on the drive down a weird thing. If accelerating hard in 3rd 4th or 5th the revs go up but it takes a good few secs for the car to speed up. Any ideas. Its like a clutch slip but its firm in 1st if you try and slip it when stationary. Sorry to throw this in here but in the middle of France and dont want to allert my familly to possible problems by trawling through old posts. Any help most welcome or tell me where to post the question. Its a well looked after car from my father in law and has done 106000 miles so cant believe its actually the clutch away.
