I would go for the older models. Personally i think the newer diesels seem to have problems. However I may be biased, 2005 Forester XT owner. All the best in your search.

Here is my 2005(55) lower road tax Fozxie for sale. The car has covered 160k, but comes with full service history and an engine rebuild at circa 148k. Cambelt was changed at that time too, with thermostat and coolant system. Spec wise it has all the goodies, panoramic roof, black leather heated seats, 6 disc change inbuilt, SAT NAV etc... Upgrades Front calipers are 4 pot STI, rears STI upgraded too, with drilled and grooved discs all round, porterfield kevlar pads fitted. 340lph Racetec fuel pump fitted, variable dump valve, new Exedy clutch, BC racing adjustable coilovers, fitted currently with 17" wheels with Nokian Winter all round. Mapped to 290BHP. The car drives really well, it will come with a decat down pipe, and some 16" stick wheels. 18" Rotas are available at extra cost. Looking at offers around £4,500. Thanks Rahail

Where are you based Don, I will have my 2.5XT coming up for sale soon. FSH but a bit high on miles, but engine rebuild and plenty of mods/remap and fully spec'd. In the last 10k miles, new clutch exedy, new coilovers and dics/pads and timing belt when engine was rebuilt. Also looks like a STI, has a quite unique quad exhaust conversion.
