  1. Please can some one tell me how to change the center bearing on the propshaft and who will change the staked spider bearings (hardy spicer joint) Thy are a bit lumpy .I was told this was normal but thy do not feel right to me .There is no play or bad movement in the spider joint and no red rust marks. Based in Scotland Thanks for the help David
  2. Hi All I have read all 27 pages of Sigma Sam's excellent info .All the fuses are good that is the ones in car behind the coin tray and under the bonnet . The LED on the key pad is not illuminated when any of the digits are pressed with ignition on or off same with the LED on the steering column. I am looking to see if there is a inline fuse in the alarm wiring. Any one know this. My next move is trace down the location of the SigmaM30 controller I have a feeling it is some where above the foot well on the passenger side. Any clues ,at the moment the glove box is stripped out to put in a new pollen filter. Key Pad is on the left hand side of the glove box I also have the serial No and the pin code Thanks David
  3. I have change the battery in the siren and put the siren back on the car. I found a picture of the plug into the back of the alarm control box ,It is clearly a 4 pin plug/socket marked Siren however the siren has a plug that has only 3 pin plug the colors are ,Red ,Green, Yellow . The other color is Brown I have looked for some where to terminate it but not found anything , The bonnet switch has 2 Black wires and there is a black going to car body earth .As you may have read in a previous post a mouse had damaged the wires ,the repair was to insert wires to repair the damage color for color as it was easy to cut back the insulation to the good part of the harness .There was only one end of the Brown coming from controller . The LED on the steering column is not lit at any time, The car locks/unlocks/starts and runs/drives and the immobilizer symbol is on when the car is locked .PLEASE CAN SOME ONE ADVISE WHERE THIS BROWN WIRE HAS TO GO ,OR AM I BEEN SENT A RED HERRING AND IT IS A SPARE AND NOT USED Thank you for reading this David
  4. HI all I posted about mouse eating the wires to the sounder ,all these have now been repaired ,and a new 7.2V back up battery fitted in side the siren unit ,(the siren is on the bench in the garage)when the old battery was in there was no sound from the alarm., Now with the new battery fitted and siren still on the bench it is making a clicking sound . Is this normal . Thanks for any help David.
  5. Thank you all for reading the above waffle I have now traced the fault to the wiring to the siren . A mouse choose to build a block of flats and tapped into the wiring harness for the siren for a power source but he was not a good sparky as he built in a short ,he also used the pollen filter for the build . Now it just need to find where the Brown wire goes as the siren only has three wires in to the plug and there is four wires in the loom to the siren Thanks again David
  6. Motor Car is a Outback Reg 07 History of repair :- Car wanted new rear sub frame ,had to wait nearly two and a half months. Car battery went flat and would not hold its charge over night New one bought and fitted and rear subframe fitted. Now this is what happens .The Immobilizer sets ok The lights on he dash and the LED on the steering column do as thy should ,close door with key all sets ok ,Turn the key car starts as it should but the siren sounds then resets after a period of time then it goes through that process for about 4/5 miles then stops sounding . The car runs and starts no problem at all so the immobilizer circuit is fine. That is why I think there might be a rechargeable battery that is not holding its charge. Also please can someone tell me how to access the siren I think it is in the engine compartment some where near the passenger side wiper .What is the process to get in there . Apologies for the long ramble ,It is a bit/lot embarrassing driving along the road and I do not know if it is a road traffic offence Thanks for the help David
