After 8 years, it's time to part with Whiskey Juliet. Unfortunately, since the pandemic I've run out of time for the work that's needed, and at this point it made more sense for me to buy a different Spec.B with lower mileage. This could be a great cheap way into a Spec.B for someone who wants a project.
It's a facelift, first registered Oct 2007. Currently has around 140,600 miles.
The good
Clean and tidy interior
Engine runs and pulls well (but see below)
Transmission is good
Front brakes have been upgraded to EBC redstuff pads with Turbogroove discs
Has the upgraded Kenwood stereo with the subwoofer and aux port
Had the alloys refurbished and powder coated a few years ago
Has 12v power and bike board electrics fitted in the cargo area
I've fitted a bluetooth receiver for the stereo
It has rear parking sensors fitted
MOT until August 2024
The not-so-good
It needs engine work - it sounds like the timing chains are rattly, so it may need a front-end rebuild, or worse
It needs suspension work - it has the original billies but they are knackered at this point, Clive Benten has quoted £150 a corner to refurb them
It needs body and paint work - It has a dent in the rear driver's side door from someone hitting and running during street parking. It should be able to be pulled out. There's a minor crease on the bonnet. And the back bumper has some scratches and cracked plastic on the nearside corner.
There are a few minor issues like the rear washer not working and a small stone chip in the windscreen
I haven't taken it in for the Takata airbag recall yet, the paperwork is with it.
I'd much rather see it go to an enthusiast than a breaker. HowManyLeft.co.uk reckons there are only 61 Spec.Bs left on the road, it'd be a shame to lose one that could be put back in decent shape with a bit of investment.
Looking for £2,500.
For viewing and test drives, I'm based in Battersea.
