After getting the old window motor off and refitting < ebay refurb unit > i find out the ebay special doesnt work A good afternoons experience but ive had to put a piece of wood inside door frame temp measure to keep the glass up crazy thing is i tested the motor i took off and it winds one way which is only up is this motor repairable or bite the bullet and get a brand new one

Came to use the lights this morning to find all lights work except front side lights at first position yet rear lamps are on. impreza 1998 sport 2.0 litre non turbo before i look any further anyone know what fuse it might be or offer an explanation including maybe both front side lights blown appreciated

went back to a sport panel filter inside stock airbox on two identical runs, same roads etc the panel filter was more responsive than the apexi only mods are straight through exhaust unknown make as on car when i got it burbles and pops on overun so quite good otherwise stock ( at the moment )

have sourced secondhand window motor but when you press switch you hear a noise like the electric current is getting to themotor but nothing else happens so my plan was straight replacement of motor ( weather and commitments permitting this week )

with reference to changing steering wheel ok with disconnecting battery, airbag and wheel all with extreme care but what about the slip ring i think its called

to get door card off im assuming detach door lever and screw and gently prise off plastic caps with careful consideration to window switch assembly in door card etc havent touched it yet as was hoping someone as experience just in case theres something i need to know not been with the subaru long

bits i have got are a scissor type mechanism although all i need is the motor that is held on with two screws

i reckon your right on that i gave it a comparison test based on running the same route twice with each fitted so maybe stock airbox and performance filter works better for me running standard engine except straight through exhaust already fitted when acquired vehicle going to do window motor on passenger side and change two front spot lamps prior to mot and hopefully run it learn with it service it enjoy its potential

Apexi Update After trials and tribulations with fitting etc took scooby for a run and the apexi never lived up to its promise low down acceleration not so good plus exhaust appeared louder and booming and no get up and go came home dug out original airbox which as a performance panel filter in it polished out the inside and refitted it. Did an ecu reset out for another test run and improved acceleration, tick over and exhaust note appeared better not so booming just a little cackle on over run been a learning curve which i am glad to have been involved in as now i personally am convinced stock air box and performance panel filter my best options thanks for all the input throughout job done case closed m lord !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one of the jobs needed when i recently got my 98 impreza non turbo was to replace window motor sourced one and will be fitting soon prior to just taking door card off was asking for any advice and info that will make this job straight forward mechanically minded but having never owned a subaru just being cautious

apexi is back on originally put it back to stock to retrace my steps but having slept on it, took the advice and some scooby related reading now back on track

left it few hours spins over nice and quick starting ok tick over good seems to run a bit better after ecu reset

give it a run round block after ecu reset and tick over back to normal new battery fitted have to say the new battery dont fire it up rapidly but maybe its a < boxer thing >

turned out to be a loose connection impreza running again after ecu reset tick over a little higher but that might settle battery as gone so just charging it to get out to get another thanks for great insight / info received

can i clean the maf using cleaner, clean connections fit it all together then disconnect battery for 10 minutes

no fault codes wondering if its worth getting some maf cleaner ran to somerset from sussex and back no problems this morning about 250 miles took off old air filter box when i got back cos new apexi had arrived disconnected maf took it off refitted maf with apexi cone on started it up no idle just cutting out

cant get car to idle turn it on and need to rev it to keep it going

1998 subaru impreza sport 2.0 litre non turbo fitted new apexi air filter today started up car now i have no tick over took the apexi off and refitted original airbox but still have no tick over car starts but just fades out unless i rev it but on a test run it was misfiring badly any ideas as to why dismantling the original airbox and taking off the maf sensor and replacing filter with brand new apexi this problem as arisen even with original airbox problem the same prior to this just done a fault less 250 mile journey no problem any help appreciated as car unusuable

thanks ordered a boss kit and 3 ohm resistor so now going to sort out what steering wheel i want and do the mot first in a few weeks first then its full steam ahead on subtle mods etc
