Absolutely - which one would be the most economic but still have access to gearbox and ABS plus airbag data?

Just an update on towing a caravan with the Legacy - its a good work horse and so far shown to have bags of power - really pleased with the auto box ratios in sport mode. Had a few trips now and have been monitoring water temperature through the OBD11. Whilst the dash water gauge does not move, the actual temperature goes up 10 degrees to just under 100 when towing. Pleased with this as it remains more or less constant. Would like to monitor auto box oil temperatures but do not have the advanced reader - hopefully just as constant.

Since owning the car I have had an annoying squeal when breaking - usually from slow speed. At first I thought it was from the front so replaced Rotors and pads with Pagid replacements plus using copper grease and anti squeal compound on the back of the pads - (red German spray stuff which cost a fortune). Still the squeal so off to the back to replace the rear Rotors and pads - same procedure. The squeal still remains. What is annoying is that I cannot pinpoint the location. I cannot be the first to have this subaru squeal? Has anyone any ideas before i end up replacing the drive shafts and bearings - driving me mad!

Hi, 2006 3.0 Rn spec B . Has yellow Billstien suspension front and back if that helps? 18" wheels. Just a Legacy badge on the back tailgate.

I have the small fog lamps on the front but sticker inside the drivers pillar says Outback - sorry about the grotty images - any help on the matter?http://www.flickr.com/photos/126081010@N02/

I will have a look - mine is a 2006 Legacy Outback and it it is too big. Guess it is for an earlier model. I'll take some measurements and post.

Thanks Chrissian. I have now replaced the lower light unit which was LED. Not too hard, unclip the outer shell, unscrew the indicator unit and replace. Does not tell you that in the manual which as Gambit says involves taking the glass out - you do not need to do that which saves the heater element. Glad to hear that you have not had temp problems with the caravan - nice boat by the way! Trouble with me is that even if its not broken on a car, i will find something to fix - hence the oil cooler project.

Found it too difficult to get any decent photos but did do some readings using the wireless OBD11 - Towing the caravan results in a rise in water temperature of between 8-10 degrees for the same speed and RPM - I used 60 MPH as the base speed. Increasing RPM but travelling at same speed (changing gear) results in a 2 degree difference overall. Driving without caravan the temperature is around 89 C with caravan towed around 97 - 101. Would have liked to have done the same exercise with the ATF oil but the OBD reader does not allow me access to the data. Am interested to see such a rise in temperature with the heavy load bearing in mind that the RPM is no different. Anyone got the physics on this? Interestingly enough, the temperature gauge in the car does not alter at all!

Have just had my Legacy 18" wheels 'refurbished' by a local chap who did a fair job :( but after just one month the paint is peeling off. Cannot complain too much as did not pay a fortune and it looks better than before. I would like to get the wheels professionally powder coated to bring them back to showroom condition. Anyone had any experience of having this done in the Leicester / Nottingham area and any ideas of cost for a good job?

Should have taken some I know. Will take some and post. Interesting to note that just by the 'feel test' that, with the fans operating, the outlet pipe is cooler than the inlet. Time will tell if it actually makes a difference.

I bought this dog guard off Ebay as the seller was selling it as 'for a Legacy'. When it arrived I found it did not fit my 2006 model as it was just too big. Must have been from an earlier version? I paid £25 plus postage - anyone needs a dog guard for that price, its sitting in my garage.

Transmission cooler fitted. I ended up using a Mishimoto universal cooler ordered from a firm in Worcester - ordered one day arrived the next morning for £50.00. I mounted it next to the power steering cooler at the front of the air con radiator. Run the two rubber pipes (i needed an extra 1 metre 3/8" length and a barbed pipe connector) to the Automatic oil filter behind the battery. Disconnect the top pipe and attach the cooler to the rigid pipe and the pipe going to the filter. Top up with fluid as required. For extra effect I purchased two 92mm computer fans from Maplins which I mounted on the cooler. These I linked to the two main fans at the control box which can be found underneath the air intake.

I am going to be towing a caravan with my Legacy 3.0 Spec B 2006. I would like to fit an Automatic transmission Oil cooler. Has anyone done this job and has anyone recommendations for a model and where it can be purchased? The Hayden brand appears on a search from Google but appears to be only available from america. Any brands, companies in the UK recommended?
