  1. Doing the near side rear wheel bearing on my 2007 2.5 Prodrive. Besides the usual lateral link bolt being stuck in the bushes the only problem I have is that the new bearing (Blueprint) comes with a packet of grease. Is this grease supposed to be squeezed into the bearing or is it just to go under the new seals? I seem to remember reading that the latest wheel bearings should not have grease added?
  2. First thing I did was put new tyres on which are Coopers 225/45/18. Asked the tyre guys if the profile was the problem he said no, will just give a harsher ride. I've used Coopers tyres for years and found them as good as any including on the mrs 5 series which was really quiet on the motorway.
  3. It's doing 17.5 mpg on lpg @ 66p /L... though that's all urban driving and I don't hang around. One thing I don't like is how noisy it is on the motorway. It's noisier than the 2001 2.0s Turbo I had last... it's not exhaust noise just a general road noise so I'm thinking of getting the carpets up and putting some sound deadening stuff down. Anyone got any experience of this? Never thought of looking in the logbook for power output so thanks for that.
  4. Recently bought a 2007 2.5XT Prodrive, had it converted to run on LPG, then .... unfortunately the Mrs took a shine to it. So I'm after another 2.5. I quite like the idea of a 2005 / early 2006 as the tax is cheaper, however the power outputs quoted in various places differ. Some say the 2007 is 227 bhp and the 2005 model 2008 bhp then other sources give just the 227 bhp figure for both models...Which is true?
  5. Certificate is there however everything I've read about the PPP Forester claim 256 bhp. Worry of course is leaving any get out for the insurance company if anything 'bad' happens.
  6. Had quote from Adrian Flux, was almost double the price for a standard 2.5 however our own insurance company asked if it was the 227 bhp or the 252 bhp model, when we said it was the 227 bhp with PPP upgrade fitted they said they wouldn't insure it. As far as I know there wasn't a 252 bhp model....but there is one on their database hence the question.
  7. I'd go for lower ball joint first.
  8. Anyone know which forester is the 252 bhp version on insurance data base. Looking at buying the Prodrive 2.5 but our insurance company don't recognise the name Prodrive ( which claim 256 bhp) so reluctant to buy something difficult to insure.
