Evening all, I have an Invidia Q300 catback stainless exhaust that I don't want. It was only on the car for about 600 miles. Came all the way from the States on special order for £965. It's as new and I'm asking £780 for it. If you are interested, then I would recommend buying stronger rubber mounts - I re-used the original ones and they sagged after a few days. Otherwise really easy to fit. I'm selling because I want a slightly quieter exhaust. This one is pretty good (I bought it because it was supposed to be the most quiet) but it's not to my taste. I basically want standard factory noise, just with better flow (probably not possible!) So I'm going to get a custom made one built. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/huw_jones/IMG_1883n_zpsyum4e6m3.jpg

Geometry setup needed, N West/Wales
huwjones replied to huwjones's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
All the way to Sandbach to get my geometry done, only to hit a !Removed! great big rock on the way home. Unbelievable. -
I find that anyone who starts going on about 'industry marketing BS' hasn't tried the tyres, or hasn't tried them under the correct conditions. My POS van wouldn't get to half of the places it does with factory tyres on.
-
I use all seasons permanently on my works van. As you said yourself, they are a jack of all trades master of none. They are a good improvement over summers on mud or snow, but they'll only help so much. I've still managed to get the van stuck in places I didn't expect (that's when the snow chains come out). I often have to get my !Removed! heavy transit connect up gravel tracks, fields and generally poor roads. If I still had summers on, I would be walking a lot more. If you're not doing much 'off roading' then I would recommend you stick to summers and just take extra care in the 1.5 days of snow we get. I bought a full set for my STi this year and I've hardly used them at all.

Geometry setup needed, N West/Wales

It's track work that's shown up the weakness, so I want to try a different setup. Booked in with CPP (Sandbach). I remembered them from my Evo days so I'm going there on Tuesday. -
I need to try and dial out some understeer from my car. I'm looking for recommendations for specialist tuners in the North West area who are used to setting up Subarus. Can anyone suggest any? Scoobyclinic would seem to be a half decent place to start but I can't find any recent recommendations on them. Demon Tweeks are pretty good with my Peugeot but I need someone who is used to Subaru adjustments.
-
Wasn't really planning to spend that much, plus I wouldn't want the tyres. Thanks for the offer anyway.

I bought a set of Team Dynamics wheels from Demon Tweeks in the end. I was in a bit of a rush due to an upcoming trackday. I don't 'really' require wheels now, but after a google search these OZ HLT's look nice. What tyres are on them and what's your asking price?

2015 sti aftermarket wheels
huwjones replied to Sparky's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
Not sure how many of you are aware, but the 2015's have TPMS (tyre pressure monitor system) on the wheels. This is a sensor that's on the back of the inflation valve. When you take the car in for tyre swaps make the fitters aware of this because they can smash the sensors if they break the bead in the wrong place. Also, if you are planning to keep your original wheels then you may need to buy a second set of sensors. They cost £130 from Subaru but a decent tyre shop should be able to get them for about £75. I'm told that the TPMS 'self learns' any new sensors or wheel swaps (i.e. front to back). I'm yet to verify this but I may test this when I put my winters back on this weekend. -
Multi Function Display Boost Gauge Question

Yup, I'd love to know this too. Can't find the settings anywhere! -
I haven't got round to buying a Gopro I'm afraid! There might be some pictures available but no guarantees!

Anyone else attending the MSV track day on Saturday at Oulton? I'm all booked up including garage (it's a bit nippy without one!). Oil changed today, got the new wheels yesterday. Just need to get my tyres mounted onto them and then I'm ready.
-
Heh, it wasn't Friday the 13th when it happened was it? Sounds like you should have stayed at home that day!
-
Ouch! Fair old scrape on that one!
-
I've fitted winter tyres onto my original 2015 wheels and I'm looking for a second set to mount the original tyres on. Don't want to destroy my winters at Oulton Park on the 24th! The original wheels are 18 x 8.5, 5 x 114.3, ET 55 with a centre bore of 56.1mm. If anyone has a nice set of wheels going spare please get in touch. :)

That's good to know - I scratched one wheel in a multi-storey car park a few weeks ago. :( I'll have to pay halfords a visit.

Power upgrade being offered by Subaru for 2015 STi
huwjones replied to huwjones's topic in General Subaru Chat
I think these are quoted as 305PS, so probably a little under 295bhp. A higher pressure fuel pump could be fitted to bring down the injector duty cycle. The standard pump could probably cope, but the injectors would be closer to their max duty. A fuel pump is much cheaper than injectors. Our cousins over the pond are upgrading injectors at approx 380bhp but normally the modification 'roadmap' doesn't involve remap first (intake> exhaust> remap> fuel pump> injectors> another remap). Didn't get to the dealer today, will give them a phone call tomorrow. -

There aren't equal length headers on these - otherwise you wouldn't have the subaru trademark flat four noise. The ELH sounds boring but is good for power. -
Power upgrade being offered by Subaru for 2015 STi
huwjones replied to huwjones's topic in General Subaru Chat
My dealer is Brookside Garage on Anglesey. From what he said on the phone, it was just a matter of sending the ECU away. I'll pop over tomorrow to see if he's around to provide more details. -
I finally picked up my 2015 STi last Saturday, here's a good excuse to post a pic... So six days and 490 miles in, my local dealer phones me today and says that Subaru are now offering a 40bhp upgrade for the STi! The car has to go into the dealer, they remove the ECU and sent it away for a re-flash. The power upgrade leaves the warranty intact too. Great news, in my opinion, as I had already mentioned that I was looking at upgrades. However - the upgrade costs £1600. EDIT: Turns out this upgrade isn't being offered for the 2015 STi - It's for the previous generation STi. They missed that boat, I think! Now, for just a re-flash it seems very expensive. I'm wondering if there may be more to it than that - i.e. a new fuel pump and/or breathing mods. Has anyone else heard of this, and do you have any more details? I was planning on fitting an equal length manifold, cold air intake and then an independent remap. This would probably come out at a similar price but void the warranty. It would be great if the engine can get a 40bhp gain even before touching the exhaust! Starting to tear apart the sofa now to see if I can find some pennies in it!

Evening all, I'm trying to decide what to do about reversing aids for my new STi. I've got the options list in front of me and I was wondering if anyone has had them fitted and what you think of them. I'm considering three options: 1) Have the dealer fit regular reversing sensors (£350). I like that they're a simple fix and may be the cheapest option. However... Do I want to trust my local dealer to fit them to a standard I would expect on a brand new car? Also I have an issue with the accuracy of these sensors. I have to squeeze things into the drive quite tight so the sensors probably won't be accurate enough. Should be fine for normal parking use though. 2) Opt for an upgraded head unit with a rear view camera. Dealer fit Nav option is £990 before fitting the camera! I would probably go for an alternative aftermarket for half the price. The only thing with this option is that I'm still looking at £600ish for an all singing, all dancing head unit that I won't use much. 3) Fit my own camera and wire it to an aftermarket rear view mirror with built-in LCD (about £100). I've driven a few Fords with these facory fitted and I liked it very much. This is my preferred option, however - I was planning to fit the Subaru auto-dimming rear mirror! These aren't available with an LCD. Then there's the fact that the universal mirrors available don't look all that great. Anyone able to advise/recommend?

Very surprised to see a new STi around here - I think it may have been dark grey but it was getting dark under streetlamps. Had a personalised reg but can't remember what any of it was!

And I told my local dealer the day before the regional sales manager was due to visit them that I'd take a cancellation in any colour. Guess they're not too good at listening.

You're only having to wait a week???? :o Jammy sod. <_< I'm not jealous at all. Honest.

Really? Have they got it in writing somewhere? That would be great... I'll book it in at 1001 miles!
