Thanks all.... Appreciate the input. I read somewhere that auto boxes on these often need a rebuild between 80-120k miles? I'm sure it's dependent on how it's been treated, but has anyone had experience of this? The auto actually sounds appealing. Lazy boosting!

Another Forester... Different Country
thanks chaps.... the question is, should it put me off the purchase of an otherwise quite tidy car! Having owned a Discovery in the past, my pet hate is electrical issues!!

Another Forester... Different Country
oh bgger.... was hoping I was just being daft and shouldn't have been holding the button down or something.

Another question if I may... On another Forester I have looked at the electric sunroof kept stopping (every 3-4 inches) when trying to close it. Each time I had to take my finger off the button and press again, and then it would do another few inches. Is this normal behaviour, because it seems somewhat abnormal to me? Getting close to finding one I like, but keep getting the nervous nellies, and panicking about gremlins that will cost me an arm and a leg once I get it home! Thanks for any info re sunroof if you have any.

3rd party inspection of Subaru
Hi all, I am currently on the hunt for a forester and have seen one on autotrader that looks nice. The only problem is it is 3.5 hours away from, so I was thinking of using some kind of inspection service. Having never done this before I was wondering if anyone had any advice on best ones to use? The vehicle is in Colchester. In Australia I have used the MTA inspections and they were great, very thorough, so was hoping someone had a similar experience/recommendation here. Thanks in advance

Strange re rear seat... Definitely was not right, guessing not a tough thing to fix either way though. Bitman, we lived in the east too, Most suburbs north of Bronte at one time or another!

Another Forester... Different Country
Ended up looking a 4 Foresters today... Two that looked nice. One of the owners mentioned the forums a lot, so may be a member on here! One had a rear seat that wouldn't lock into place? The base part of the seat. Even with the central clip "hooked" it still wasn't secure at either end (I.e the door ends of the seats). Has anyone experienced this before? Cheers
