I have passed it around various forums and Trading Standards are aware but simply to add on cost of repair to car value is ludicrous. If all garages did that there'd be nothing on the market under £3k. I think they'll have a problem selling it as there are quite a few on Autotrader with lower mileage of the same age for a lot less money. They are at top of pricing spec. Clacton sharks - I should have read all the reviews.

Hi Everyone. Please pass this warning round to other forums if you use them. Some of you may remember I bought a 2008 model Legacy 2.0i RE Auto estate recently and after a couple of days found I had problems. The car was a dark blue metallic nice looking estate sold by Pumphill Car Centre in Clacton. It had done around 127k and I paid £2995 for it with a warranty for another £275. I found I had what's known as torque wind or lock up and had my main dealers look at it. They drained the auto fluid and found metal filings in the box and suggested basically it was knackered. The gearbox ECU was having issues as well. The cost of re-build was £3600 or a new box fitted by dealers for £4600. I told Pumphill garage this and that it needed repairs under the warranty etc.................after several goes they collected it to check and get it repaired it I had said it had to be done properly and not some quick fix and said if not I would invoke Section 75 of the Consume Credit Act as I had paid £200 deposit on credit card. After 3 weeks or arguing they agreed to take the car back and give refund plus £100 expenses................ I have since now been out and with the absence of any nice Legacies about have gone for a different mark. Now this is the scary part the car is back on their forecourt for sale http://www.pumphillcarcentre.co.uk.razsor.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/subaru-legacy-2-0-re-5dr-clacton-on-sea-201507115108623 at £4290. I do know the guy that did some repairs on the gearbox but he said steer clear as they only wanted minimum repairs and he wouldn't guarantee it. The car will also need a complete exhaust right through and 4 new tyres (they are different front to back in make and loading rate). The audio had some issues and sometimes didn't bring up correct radio station.......................... I should have looked at their reviews first as they are terrible bunch to deal with - beware

Wish I was that clever........................I design buildings during the day but know nothing about electrics on cars sadly. I thought it was odd unless both blew at the same time for some reason - battery change etc????? I know when I had my Saab 9-5 you had to be careful when new battery fitted............... I've only driven it around 100 miles so far and it's going into dealers (who I have been told are very good and friendly) to look at rumble noise from wheels when on lock and also do a full health check and software update if needed. Anything really a worry will be paid for/put right by garage I bought it from.....there is a Warranty First warranty but it's only £500 each claim.......................

It actually tells you in the owners handbook about same spec even tyre brand and tread pattern!!

Sorry it's probably been asked before..................................... I have a 2008 model year Legacy Re Tourer auto and I was given 2 keys when I bought it last month. Both keys have the small button in the key itself which locks or unlocks the car. The main key works fine unlocking and locking the car and obviously starting it but the other (which is much newer) won't unlock or lock the car but it will start it if the other key is used to open it. I'm wondering if the battery is just simply too low to send signal strong enough to the car's immobilizer. There must be some charge in it though as for some bizarre reason it makes my house door bell chime in a tune not normally possible (my wife's car does it as well) - don't laugh but it played jingle bells the other day! Needless to say the door bell has a remote button on the door with a receiver plugged into socket in kitchen. So the fob does make this ocassional chime. Does this sound like simple battery or re=programming the key??

My Legacy is a 2008 model year with the black dash on the radio and protruding control knobs. It seems an excellent radio with good tone but I don't think the speakers in both rear doors are working. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a known problem? If I use the balance button it works fine left to right and back again but go to fade and all seems to be at the front. Fade it to back and put full volume up and nothing happens. The WoW setting works wonderful but nothing from back. Can't see any chaffed wires though - all other electrics work fine. Help appreciated.

Did anyone find out or know any more about this?? Mine is a 2008 2.0i auto and seems to spin fine but I would like somemore go and local tuners who do a lot on Scoobies say they should be able to take mine from the UK 163 hp up to the original 195? it had in Japan. Anyone done that and know what difference it made. The company I have used before to tune my Saab and my VW T5 camper are www,sntuning.com brilliant guys and waiting on them for exhaust price.

Must admit Dave I am mightly impressed with these Cross Climates on the Golf. I may go down the Falken All Season if they make my size. Seems very few decent tyres in 215/45 17's. Have you ever had this 'torque wind' or 'diff wind' happen. Seems bizarre but I have always known tyres must be the same with no more than 1.5mm difference around them to avoid problems
-
Dave - you said yours are 215/55 17. Are they on an Outback as my Legacy RE tourer are 215/45 17's which Michelin don't yet do in the Cross Climate. I have put some of those on my wife's 2010 Golf 205/55 R16 came out at an unbelievable £78 per corner - that's £312 for the set. They are superb in dry and excellent in a downpour we had at weekend. Speaking to my dealers they said they recommend Yokohama's which is what they came on but not sure which one?? Having said that I need to change them pretty quickly before my centre diff is knackered - mine has got hankook on front and dunlop sport on back both with different load ratings and more than 2mm difference in tread depth. Front are worn on outsides and when you turn sharp at low speed feel as if you have a flat tyre - torque wind?? Supposedly new tyres should solve this?????

HI guys. Awaiting delivery of my new (to me) 57 reg Legacy Estate 2.0 RE auto this evening. It may require a couple of tyres but depending on what's on it I may do all 4?????? I always put good quality tyres on my car as after all that's all you have between you and the road!! My last car was a Saab 9-5 Estate and that had Michelin Primacy 3 which were very good but I know not all tyres suit certain cars?? I'm not a racing driver and don't intend to take the car to it's limits but I'm also not a slow driver - if that makes sense. I was looking at possibly putting all seasons such as Goodyear Vector4all seasons or Uniroyal all seasons on it. Any suggestions or other option for this particular car - I only do around 8k a year Any advice warmly welcomed as we had a good discussion on the Saab forum on this very subject - some on there had kept their winters on all year round with good results!

Just the bottles I was worried about!

The car currently has I believe 162 bhp but from what I understand has 190 in Japan but de-tuned for European markets. I've spoken with a local company that I used to map out the DPF on my Saab and recently re-mapped my T5 camper and they reckon they should be able to do a custom re-map and take it back to at least 190 with more torque. It will cost me around £300 and they are excellent guys - they race F3 cars and do programming for various companies. Just wondered if anyone else had their 2.0i legacy done??
-
Funny that because that's exactly what's being done at the moment. The car comes with 12 months warranty so I'll make sure 11 months everything is tip top. Having said that I'm not expecting any problems unless someone tells me otherwise lol

Hi - Newbie here. Just sold my 56 reg Saab 9-5 diesel estate and purchased a 57 plate 2.0i RE Auto Legacy Est with 126k on clock. Car has full history and looking forward to a smooth reliable ride! Cambelt just done and last service at dealers was in January. Wish me luck - I know I'll be taking a hit in fuel but the Saab did on 42 mpg at best and if the Legacy does 30 ish I reckon it'll only cost me another £200 in fuel for the year but less on insurance and servicing.
