Really? How much would that be on top of the heads then? I'm practically looking at a new engine really... is there any way to tell other then a bitten knock?
Ok so had sniff test done again. Been told it's heads. Been told I have managed to drive to work and back because the head is fine but when exhaust gets hot it makes head expand taking the exhaust gas and pushing into coolant that's why there no oil in water and water in oil. I am now wondering on what kind of price I should be looking at or if anyone can recommend someone near Aylesbury Buckinghamshire
I keep reading up on them is k-seal? Is it any good. I am going to a local garage tomorrow for bit more advice on what route to take as... heads and timing change is going to be about 1k my rough quote I had
I starting to think that. Just seems odd don't over hear all the time, no egg smell, gaskets look ok around the edge, no oil in water, no water in oil... so strange
Hi again all. Since my last post. I have had a friend look over it (mechanic) he's done a sniff test. Very puzzled. Sniff test after a few minutes went yellowish green. Meaning head gasket then, he said will do a 2nd time just to check and then it didn't change colour? It over heats after about 10mile drive every time or after about 20minute drive. Its still got this problem. He did take rad cap off and start her up and said that the coolant shouldn't be spitting and bubbling out like that... also.... top rad hose hot and tight? Bottom cold thanks guys
I was giving it some welly about 2weeks ago and the top rad pipe burst and then over heated I had that replaced and I changed thermostat last Thursday and done coolant
It fluctuates between normal temp and just under the red. I have just been on a 10mile drive no problem and temp was as it should be with no faults no over heating... So puzzled by this
I have burped it a few times now, top hose gets hot then fan kicks in and it cools of a bit haven't checked bottom one other then for leaks.
I bumped it starting car with cap off letting bubbles all stop then top up with water same process and then putting cap back on
