  1. Hi Aucky, Thanks for the info but hopefully I won't need to mess with it again. I drilled out the existing the plastic sheath that held the corroded connector so it now firmly holds a standard connector. Lights tested and working. Will keep this post handy just in case...never know what might happen! Cheers All!
  2. OK, thinking i will try drilling out the plastic sheet a little bit to see if i can get the normal female connectors to fit...failing that will just do something similar to you. Cheers
  3. Yeah its annoying. I have called every auto electrical store in Aberdeen and no-one has them. May end up having to do the same but suspect doing that they will corrode quicker being exposed.
  4. Hi Aucky, So turns out the issue was with 1 wire going into the 4 pin relay screwed onto the back of the headlight...easy fix....or so i thought! One of the metal connectors in the plastic housing has disintegrated into nothing. It seems electrical stores only have the female curly type. I cannot find the type in the picture that is flat on both sides. Anyone know where i can get these?
  5. Ok Aucky, i think i know the exact wire your talking about will check it out and see how it goes. Cheers. HoodedLime, I will use a little TLC and try to convince it off. Yeah i can feel the relay clicking and it is at the passenger side at the back of the light. Thanks!
  6. Hi HoodedLime, OK thanks for that. Its all pretty tight to get to it...i assume you have to take the lights off to get to the relays? If so, how do u get the small screw at the bottom of the light out? Can you get to it without taking the bumper off? Apologies if its a stupid question but i am new to Scooby's. Do you know what type of relay it is? Hi Aucky, The lights are already in and wired up by the original owner or by Subaru when the car was ordered. I will go down the relay route first before having to change wiring but thanks for the picture, its saved should i need it. Will be thursday before i get to it again so will update then. Cheers
  7. All, Looking for some tips in working out the fault with the Morette headlights on my 2002 WRX Sportwagon. This is a recently purchased car for me which needed a little work. It was just about ready to go for it's MOT but then found both full beam lights dont work. Bulbs and fuses are fine. All the other lights work. The lights (I believe) were fitted by the original owner when he spec'd the car so not an aftermarket fit. When i turn the lights own i can hear a clicking sound at the passenger side headlight. Is there another relay other than the ones in the main box in the engine bay? Looks like its nightmare to get to without taking off the whole light fitting? Any tips, advice or experiences? So close...but yet so far to finally getting to drive my new toy!!
  8. Hi Phil, Yeah i was looking at a gun metal grey or similar so will go look at some wheels in that colour. I like the idea of a pearl clear coat...not heard of that before :D. I got a practically new subframe for 180 so will pick up new bolts on Monday and get it fitted on wednesday when i am next off. Todays job is removing the calipers and which I think I will get powder coated a royal blue...and and continue de-rusting the underneath :( Cheers Franco
  9. Yeah i just contacted a breaker to see if they have the dust shields in decent condition. The ones i have can practically be taken off by hand as they are rotten. If the breaker falls through i will give that other site a go. Do you know what tensile strength or type they need to be? I know they have nickel plated steel and also a harder one which i can't remember the name of. Cheers
  10. So that importcarparts.co.uk dont do the bolts for the subframe but do the brake dust shield...which i might are a little pricey. £190 for front and rear! On the plus side i found a local company that is like a pink n mix for bolts and will be a fraction of the price than buying online :D
  11. Hi Stants, OK thanks, i will have a look tomorrow.
  12. Hey All, Wanted to start a thread about the work i am doing on my Impreza Sportwagon WRX :) (Bugeye). I bought it as a small project as the front sub frame has rusted and failed its MOT. There is a fair amount of rust so my intention is to get it cleaned up, replace frame and treat with some form of protection and overall just get it back to where it should be. I have already removed the sub-frame and only broke 1 bolt which was a surprise. So far I have seen a couple of things needed of which I can't find online. I need brake dust shields for front and back as they are rotten through. I also want to replace all the bolts of the subframe...again having issues finding these. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Now I am stewing about the colour of the powder coat I want for the wheels. The car is a metallic dark blue (but looks black). Initially I was leaning towards a gun metal grey but keen to hear any suggestions or see photos to help. Cheers
  13. Hi Stants, Thanks for the advice. Do you know what the increase in hp is with a remap and rough price?
  14. Thanks for the replies! Its the bug eye model (but has the cluster upgrade). I don't think it is an engine out job but suspension etc will all need to come out. I think camber and wheel alignment will need to be set up again once the new frame is in. I haven't had a chance to look yet but are there any basic performance or bodywork upgrades I can do. It has a new stainless steel exhaust that is a couple of years old but apart from that i believe its standard. Cheers.
  15. Hi All, I have just purchased a 51 plate Subaru Impreza Sportwagon which I cannot wait to get on the road! It was purchased as a small project from my next door neighbour who has had it sitting in his drive for the last year as the the front subframe needs replaced...it is beyond any weld repair! (I appreciate that this isn't a small job :D ) and wanted to get some advice. I am sourcing a second hand frame which looks to be in good nick so wanted to know of any potential issues i might come across or generally any advice that could be offered by folks far more experienced than I. I will get a picture up soon. Thanks in advance Franco
