I would top up tank at last Shell station before the ferry anyway, but my best mpg has been just over 20 and 200 miles seems to be my max range, so spending a week over there, I will have to buy fuel. Never had to buy octane boosters before, so don't know if they're all much the same, but any recommendation is helpful and would I just add it to 95 ron, or would it be worth buying Maxol E5 and adding it to that?

OK, probably not the best place to ask this question, but tried to start a new topic elsewhere and saw no facility to enter text, only seemed to be allowed to attach a file. So, my question is, that I may be travelling to Ireland next month, for a short break and want to know what fuel I can buy that will be safe to run my car on. It's just been mapped (see earlier comments) to suit Shell V-Power Nitro and I had decided to use Tesco's high octane offering, only in an emergency. It seems that Ireland doesn't offer either, with best option appearing to be Maxol E5. There has been much discussion, but very little concrete evidence that I would be safe to use it. Please note, my car is mapped to 363.9 bhp, with 2.1 stroker kit, forged rods, pistons, VF34 turbo, pink injectors, 255 Walbro fuel pump, large bore exhaust and an uprated intake kit. I don't want to risk any damage. Any thoughts, especially from owners who have taken their cars to Ireland, or live there.

It had equal length X-Force headers before. I believe the new ones are equal length also, but I don't care either way. I was just hoping the engine hadn't lost much over the last 3 years. Getting some more power is a bonus, but the extra torque and power at lower revs was totally unexpected. Just delighted tbh.

Went to watch Dyno session and remap before collecting my car from Engine Tuners today. My wallet took a bashing, thanks to full service, new headers, new rear pads, new induction kit and of course the Dyno session. Result? Up from 346.5 BHP to now 363.9 BHP! I wasn't expecting any improvement as it was last Dyno'd and mapped 3 years ago by the previous owner, but not only has the power and torque increased, it is also much better at lower revs, making the car much nicer to drive. So a great job from Engine Tuners all around and a special thanks to Martyn for the remap. I'm starting to love this car. ;-) Oh and thanks for the recommendation to go to Engine Tuners.

Met Martyn and Alan at Engine Tuner (Martyn gave me the tour) and was very impressed with their facilities and attitude. Car is booked for service first week in January and for a few other needed items, brake pads, suspension bushes, air filter, headers etc. Might cost a bit, but want to get the pain out of the way at the start. I am very happy with the car, if a little nervous about all the mods and whether it's all been done properly and is sound. I will report back after the work is done. First "brim to brim" mpg check, gave just over 21mpg, which for my first tankful and in a car that claims to have 346.5 bhp, is not too bad, in my eyes. Should I hope for more?

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. Would "Engine Tuner" be a good option for all types of servicing and repairs or is it mainly just engines?

Did a search on here for "Engine tuner" and couldn't track them down. Probably used rubbish search criteria. Where are they based?Also, I think they might be worth looking at after I've had the car health checked. The car came with a dyno print out at 346.5 bhp, but this was done in 2012 and much may have changed since, so a remap may be in order.

Thanks for the response. I would like to take the car to someone with skills and facilities to give my car a health check, so Mr B sounds a good option.

Just bought a 2003 Blob-eye WRX hatchback/estate. My first Subaru. :) Has had a fair few mods and I'd like to get my car checked out properly by a good independent specialist. I will look through the forum, but if anyone could point me to a reliable specialist in or near to Devon, I would really appreciate it. Regards Pete
