Boost issue 0.5 bar. Yawn!
Hey people, I’ve got an Impreza classic wagon and it’s never boosted correctly, I've put a gauge on it and it’s only boosting at 0.5 bar. I’ve had the inlet manifold off and checked all the pipes, not fun, didn’t find a single split pipe. Any ideas? It also has an annoying hesitation at gentle throttle. Any help would be appreciated to make it go how it should!

I've done numerous smoke tests on the engine but not luck in finding any leaks.

Classic wagon hesitation problem
I thought if you had a boost leak you would hear it? Wooshing out?

Classic wagon hesitation problem
Used a genuine maf yes. Haven't tried plugs and leads yet, I noticed when I unplugged the oxygen sensor it ran almost perfectly so presumed it was the sensor but no better. There were 2 codes, 24 and 32. 32 would more than likely be from me unplugging the oxy sensor and 24 said idle air control valve? ive erased the codes and going to run it and check again. Thanks guys!

Classic wagon hesitation problem
Hi, still new to the site. I've got a classic Impreza wagon v reg. its got an irritating hesitation nearly all the time, but noticibly worse just cruising/commuting. I've changed the air flow meter and oxygen sensor. But it's still happening. Another problem is it's only boosting at 0.4bar and isn't very Impreza like. Any help would be appreciated!

Tuning/remap in the south west?
And what's the deal with a decat? As I got given one with the car. Is it a good thing or does it have to be used with a remap? Or can I just stick it on?

Tuning/remap in the south west?
Cheers guys! What exactly am I asking for with my pretty standard wagon classic? A remap? An ecu upgrade?

Standard and safe boost on 2000 Classic?
Still not sure on what a restrictor pill is. And did a smoke test to see if there were any air leaks and none appeared.

Standard and safe boost on 2000 Classic?
No codes in memory, what's a restrictor pilot? Car is pretty standard apart from piper cross filter and cat back exhaust. I've adjusted the actuator arm as much as I can and that's getting it closer to .7 at times. But don't feel happy doing this. Going to put the actuator arm back as I found it and clean the boost solenoid.

Standard and safe boost on 2000 Classic?
So you're saying boost sensor? Pipes? Something like that?

Standard and safe boost on 2000 Classic?
Any ideas why it's boosting around .5? And would you say it's safe to adjust the boost to around .9 without a remap? Thanks.

Standard and safe boost on 2000 Classic?
Got a guage and its boosting around .4 - .5 bar. Is that Normal boost for a wagon? And what's a safe boost to run? Thanks.

Does this have to be done with diagnostic equipment or can it be done by bridging wires?

Great stuff! Just one more thing, it has a slight hunting/hesitation at around quarter throttle when driving, any ideas? Seems fine at full throttle and idle. Cheers guys!

Great info, thanks for your help, I'll look for a local tuner I think and go from there. How much is a remap normally? £300? I was only going to fit the decat as I thought it would increase power but after reading your post I'll leave it for now, I don't like really loud scoobys, I'm 31 now and live in a quiet village. Thanks again.

When you say a remap, do I need to spend out on a mappable ecu? The standard ecus can't be mapped can they?

Great. And say the boost is lower, is it safe enough to adjust the actuator rod and watch the guage until it's around .8? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I'm gonna fit a decat tomorrow to add to the stainless system and it has a piper cross filter fitted, what boost should it be around? I'll get a guage. What's after induction and exhaust? What bhp are the wagons? Cheers!
