  1. I have a GF code not a GC (Difference between wagon and saloon?), The code on the plate reads GF8D5ED which I believe makes it a V3 STi As far as I am aware or can tell, it's totally standard but who knows on the remap side of things. As for fuel, 97 or 99 RON. I have had to put a drop (being 5 litres) of 95 in it today as the Garages in my village seem to be struggling to get the higher octane right now. Just enough to get into town tomorrow to get some good stuff. Looks like there really is an intermittent problem with idle control too as on the odd occasion the RPMs are right down on idle. It's going to a local specialist tomorrow for a once over so hopefully a few £s will put all this stuff to bed. Thanks to all for your help, much appreciated.
  2. Thanks all, things got progressively worse today. Originally the light would come on and a few minutes later be out. I narrowed that down to the light going off whenever the clutch was depressed and RPMs dropped off, but now the light is on all the time. I've located the plugs and it looks like it's showing 3 faults.... 22 - Knock Sensor 14 - Idle control system 33 - Vehicle Speed Sensor So, code 33 would be expected. The other 2 I was not expecting. I know what the knock sensor is for, not sure if I should be worried or if that was triggered as a result of me testing as I took it to about 4k with the check light on and power was brutally cut? I connected up the green plugs (along with black ones) to reset the codes, went for a drive with them connected and the process worked but at stage 8 of resetting the codes, the check light was signalling code 33 only, Came back disconnected the green plugs and read the fault codes again, all 3 fault codes still present. Edit: That said, the check engine light is off right now. @savage bulldogs It was sold to me as a v3, I'm a scoob noob though, how can I tell for sure? The export cert shows first registration being Jan 97, Serial GF8-021069 with the EJ20 engine.
  3. Excuse my ignorance but where would the codes "flash up"? I haven't noticed anything but that's not to say I havent missed it?
  4. Hello all, hoping there are some JDM gurus here. I recently purchased an STi V3 wagon, speed and odo running in km. There's an MPH sticker stuck over the KPH marking on the dash so assumed at some point it had been converted. Someone told me there ought to be a chip behind the dash that converts the KPH to MPH so decided to pop the dash. So after doing that I quickly realised that it seems to be cable driven. It's a real pig to get the cable back onto the dash, in doing so I managed to pull the cable hard enough to disconnect from the gearbox end. I put my girlfriends tiny hands to use and got her to reconnect the gearbox side but it's not easy and whilst it looks connected, I have no speedo or odo right now. Further to this, I now have an engine check light coming on at random. The engine check light goes out after first starting the car as expected. Drive a few miles down the road and it comes on, it'll stay on for a little while before going out, a while later it'll be back on, rinse and repeat. There appears to be no pattern to when the light comes on/off although it seems as though if I slow down to 20mph or below, the light goes off. Anyone know if this is likely to be related to not having a speedo/odo connected as the car seems to be running just fine otherwise.
