Hi all, owned my Outback six months now and covered around 4000 miles. Like the car for solo driving but am still getting to grips with it as a towcar. Does anyone else find that the gearbox is noisy during acceleration? Once up to speed it is very quiet and a pleasure to drive. Dave

Yep got mine in Apr of this year, not many around where I live.

Just returned from a trip down to London & back. 39+ mpg on way down including traffic hold up on M6 and 38mpg overall. Quite impressed with this as it is a long time since I have had a petrol engine. Now clocked up 1000 miles and first caravan tow is next month will be interesting to see mpg towing 1555kg of caravan!🙂

Thanks Alpacaob as I thought, still find it annoying every time I drive and forget to switch it on.

Hi Jon, I got my new Outback start of March, first long run, a few days in Wales and it is returning 37 mpg if the display is to be believed. Hope this helps Dave

Hi All, Can any one tell me if auto vehicle hold can be switched on permanently, or must it be activated each time you start up which is a bit of a pain? On my Tiguan it was switched either on or off and it retained the setting. Thanks Dave

Collected the car today, looks even better than the photograph. 17" spare wheel fits in the boot as people have said, much to my great relief. Many thanks to all for your help, I am just going to enjoy the car for now. Dave

Hi and thanks for this info. I now have a 17" steel rim fitted with a 225/65 R17 tyre and the screw down bolt & washer. My dealer informs me that the wheel insert for the jack & tools is for an 18" alloy spare so will be too large for my wheel. Hopefully there will be space in and around the spare to fit the bits in. Collecting the new car tomorrow will find out then! Thanks again Dave

Hi all and thanks for all the help and advice re the spare wheel. The car is at the dealers, collection next Monday. I have a 17" steel spare which is going for 65 profile tyre tomorrow. Rim, bolt and washer cost me £111 and an Avon ZX7 tyre was £95. Will just need to get 1000 miles on the clock and then I can start towing! Roll on Monday Dave

Hi and thanks for the info, it looks from the figures as though there is a minor & major service as I suspected and that the second major service is almost twice as expensive. I will as you suggest ring around other dealers to get some estimates of prices. Thanks again. Dave

Hi all, about to take delivery of my new Outback Touring and the dealer is offering me a service plan. 2 years service @ £621 or 3 years @ £991. So what are the Subaru services, minor & major or are they all the same and are these prices reasonable? Many thanks for any thoughts. Dave

That's good news, so not everything on eBay is a bargain then...lol

'and daily drive a 1994 Eunos Roadster (MX5 Import)' Hi we share somethings in common: mine is a 94 G-Ltd it lives in Cheshire my Outback is due to arrive in March. See you around perhaps. Dave

Hi & thanks for this info. I am not bothered about the spare matching the original wheels so a 17" steel with appropriate tyre would be fine, I assume that the numbers are Subaru part numbers, is the tool holder an insert that hold the jack and tools. Is the jack Subaru specific? Many thanks again. Dave

Thanks for this, couple more questions if you don't mind. I have managed to find the handbooks for the 2022 car, five in total but I am unsure if they are just for the American car ie LHD illustrations. One is for the StarLink system which appears to connect the car to a mobile phone app, is this system implemented on the UK models? Thanks again Dave

Hi and thanks for a very interesting read. I ordered my Outback Touring mid Dec 21 with an estimated delivery date of late Apr 22 but have just been informed that this has been brought forward to early Mar. Would be interested to know if you were able to track the progress of your deliver as it would appear our American cousins can. Have you investigated spare wheel options or are you going with the 'gloop' can? I ask as my car will be used for towing a caravan and I would prefer the security of a spare wheel. Thanks in advance for any thought/advice you may be able to offer.

Thanks Andy, that would be a bonus! Many thanks Dave

Hi Andy, most helpful and widens the field even more, will have to wait until mid April to find out. Many thanks Dave

Hi Jay762 and many thanks for your reply. Yes my dealer has measured the demonstrator and confirmed that a wheel will fit, as you say it's a tape measure job when I get the car. Thanks for the pcd info and the commonality with other models gives some scope to find a s/hand full size spare. Dave

Oh well almost 20 days and 127 views and still no answer, I guess that there are not many owners of the new Outback on here. Time to move on.....Bye.

Hi all, New to Subaru and new Outback due Apr 2022, looked but can't find the answer to the spare wheel question for a UK car. Does a full size spare wheel fit in the space under the floor? Is there a space saver option? If not what is the alternative wheel tyre combination not keen on using the sealing fluid supplied? Thanks in advance Dave
