  1. New ECU (£800) but cant guarantee will work and cant send back,, or get my one checked.
  2. Good point I suppose a decent Scooby garage should have a few other ECUs there
  3. Would rather not spend £800 on a new ECU unless I know if it def needs one to be honest, bit of an expensive gamble!!
  4. Do they specialise in checking ECUs?? as i am struggling to find anywhere that can actually can test them.
  5. Can anyone recommend anywhere that tests ECUs??
  6. Ok, a bit of an update!!! The car has been at the Subaru main dealers for nearly 2 weeks!! they originally told me it was a wiring fault and they could repair it, it now turns out they can not find any wiring faults! They say they have checked everything they can and that they suspect it is the ECU that is faulty. There seems to be a fault when you un bolt the ECU from its bracket and move it when the ignition is turned on the fan actually goes off and the lights on the dash start flickering on and off and you can hear you can hear all the relays clicking behind the dash etc. Now they are telling me its the ECU and I need a new one or to get this one checked out, but I also believe there is a chance that it could be the wiring harness going into the ECU because surely if there was a bad connection it would it would show up when moving the ECU?? I have researched 330s ECU faults and seeing that these are a denso ECU no one has seemed to have any faults...?? so it seems unlikely that mine is the only one...??
  7. Haha hope it doesn't come to that lol
  8. Yes mate that's what I am thinking, it all seems very strange how all dash lights are on, hopefully they can just reset the ECU or something!
  9. They just said too me that it is £84 per hour plus vat to diagnose the fault, I have told them that I already replaced the coolant temp sensor. Yes I hope its not too bad too fingers crossed!!
  10. Still no luck!! I ve booked it in with dealers for Wednesday so im sure they will just check everything I have already checked and charge me £100 an hour for the privilege!!,
  11. It does, the original owner who I have tried contacting but is ex directory, and then the second owner who I supposedly got it from and he wont reply to my calls.
  12. Was ok for few days now running like a dog! would be nice if you find out who owned it!!
  13. So a bit of an update, I have traced all the wiring back and could not find any faults anywhere!! I have had a lot of advice from some helpful people today, scoobyclinic seem to think that it is my headgaskets that have gone and these are the symptons of that? Carnetix seem to think it is an electrical fault but obviously both these companies need to see the car first. So at the minute the car struggles to start, when it does it coughs and splutters, when driving there is no power and all the dash warnings lights are on (check engine, cruise, traction lights etc) the only fault code stored is p0117engine coolant temp circuit and this code will not erase! The temp gauge shoots up to the red as soon as ignition is turned on, this happens all the time as soon as I turn the key even when engine is stone cold! and fans are constantly on too. With a scanner plugged in the data is saying the engine is 120 even though it is stone cold. I have done a compression test and all are approx. 150 psi per cylinder. Any advice would be appreciated before I spend 3k getting the headgaskets done! cheers Lee
  14. spoke to the dealer that it had been serviced with, they said they had new computers and don't have any information on any cars anymore!!! what a joke!! They told me to contact Subaru uk which I have done, they have told me I need to sent a request online for my warranty info.
  15. I brought the car private as an untouched standard car, I have only found out since looking for this temp fault that it has had work done before, car has full dealer history. I have contacted the previous owner and he says he never had anything done to it. There was one previous owner before him.
  16. No idea mate and the guy I got it from obviously knows nothing about it and is not very helpful !!!
  17. To be honest it looks like it has a rebuild recently as it has defiantly been taken apart before, not really used any water or oil, but I have only had a week and not driven it that much.
  18. Hucknall in nottinigham, private sale, it is completely standard, as far as I know it was ran on v power, it was running ok until one day when it took ages to start and the temp gauge shot up and the fans came on all when it is still cold!
  19. That's exactly what I am thinking has happened but just trying to trace where! car is standard but does look like had work done in the past, prob had an engine rebuild.
  20. ooopps sorry, live about 7 miles from town centre.
  21. 2009, white, 59k miles, brought private from Nottingham, don't fancy giving my address out if I am honest, (no offence)
  22. haha no problem, its exactly the same if I un plug it, makes no difference fan still comes on and temp goes to very top!
  23. hi mate, it does it with or without coolant in it, as soon as I turn ignition on the temp gauge shoots too very top and stays there and fan comes on!
