  1. Wouldn't mind a Focus RS; I'd probably even settle for a Golf R :P But yup for sure, def no place for a car in London!
  2. Haha fair enough! Oh yep cool, sounds good. Golf seems to be the go then :)
  3. Yeah I'd consider an Astra. Not really interested in spending more than I need to, so perhaps something around the 1-1.5k mark? And def won't be getting into any modding, I'll reserve that for my Legacy back home :D What don't you like about the A3 Gambit?
  4. Great advice guys, thanks :) Yeah I thought diesel might be the way to go for good fuel economy. I've never owned a diesel - would a diesel Golf be much more to fix if something breaks than say some other petrol powered equivalent? Are they just as reliable? The general view from what I've heard suggests they would be.
  5. Hey folks, sorry for the novel but I write this to call on your local knowledge and advice on what car you would recommend. The situation: I've moved over to the UK and have left my Subbie at home, as I don't plan on staying here forever. I'm in the process of looking for work, and would like to start thinking about what car I should get; should I end up needing to get one. What I'm looking for: I'll likely have to do some degree of commuting, depending on where I find work and where I end up staying; so I'll want something that's known to be able to handle the miles and won't crap out on me. Especially as I'll be targeting something cheap and therefore probably will have done a few miles already. Perhaps more important than being cheap to buy however, I want it to be cheap to run - in terms of fuel, cost to insure, reliability, and cost to replace parts. Also don't want it to be stupidly uncomfortable on a road tip. I was thinking something smallish (but not tiny!), like: VW Polo or Golf Peugeot 306, 206, 307 Ford Fiesta, Focus Vauxhall Corsa Audi A3 Renault Clio Countless Japanese options I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. I'm personally keen on a European option just cos these tend to be more costly to own back home, but don't let this be an influence. Cheers!
  6. Cool man, thanks for the tips. And great photos! So it's fair to say that just a general admission ticket will be good enough?
  7. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice/tips on visiting Goodwood FoS. If I just get a general admission ticket for one of the weekend days (£60), would I get a decent experience? Though it'd be awesome to get one of the Grandstand tickets, I don't think I want to fork out that much. Any help much appreciated!
  8. Thanks!
  9. Oh cool thanks for the tip. I'm in SW London atm so wouldn't be out of the question, might just have to check it out some time :)
  10. Cheers for the welcome and comments :) I'm here with the intention of only staying a few years, so if I do end up needing a car I'll probably only look for a cheap runaround. I'll likely just get my Subie fix from sites like this haha. And wouldn't mind checking out some meets if I'm ever in the right place at the right time.
  11. Hi guys, Newbie here from New Zealand. Moved over to London just over a month ago and thought I'd scope out the UK Subaru forums having been a fairly regular member of Clubsub back home. Here's some pics of my car in NZ; a JDM Legacy GT Spec B. It's pretty much stock; only things I've done are put on STI mufflers and springs which give it a subtle drop in height. Sorry in advance for spamming the images! A shot with my previous car: And some shots from various meets I've gone to:
