  1. Is it possible to change the transmission fluid in an 2007 Auto forester just by draining out the sump plug and then refilling to correct level. Bit worried about air bleeding might be required as well

    Many thanks John

Hi John - Apologies been under cars all weekend

For auto transmissions I have on seen the flush approach described as with the pump in place that will mean fluid is trapped. Just going to do a bit of digging on your specific setup though

      cheers

It does look like you have a modine cooler setup similar to my own so I would go for a flush not a drain as you will get more of the old stuff out.

Easy enough to do but set yourself up before starting.

      I needed:

      1 bucket

1 piece of clear tube (So you can see colour change) that is long enough to go from the modine return / output connector to the bucket

A tall slim funnel to get to the filler hole in the trans box

Connect the hose and put into the bucket

Have the funnel inserted into the trans box flll point

start engine and after a short while start filling the trans box with new oil - eventually the oil going to the bucket will become clearer

      stop engine

top up oil to the appropriate level

      hope this helps

      Jay
