  1. Really? How much would that be on top of the heads then? I'm practically looking at a new engine really... is there any way to tell other then a bitten knock?
  2. Ok so had sniff test done again. Been told it's heads. Been told I have managed to drive to work and back because the head is fine but when exhaust gets hot it makes head expand taking the exhaust gas and pushing into coolant that's why there no oil in water and water in oil. I am now wondering on what kind of price I should be looking at or if anyone can recommend someone near Aylesbury Buckinghamshire
  3. That's what I thought. Just stressful as don't have the money at the moment and was going to do it next year
  4. I keep reading up on them is k-seal? Is it any good. I am going to a local garage tomorrow for bit more advice on what route to take as... heads and timing change is going to be about 1k my rough quote I had
  5. Just stressful as cars only done 64k... was going to change all next summer
  6. That is very true. As I've bled the coolant 3 times now and still a block or leak.
  7. I starting to think that. Just seems odd don't over hear all the time, no egg smell, gaskets look ok around the edge, no oil in water, no water in oil... so strange
  8. Also fan inside the car not getting warm
  9. Hi again all. Since my last post. I have had a friend look over it (mechanic) he's done a sniff test. Very puzzled. Sniff test after a few minutes went yellowish green. Meaning head gasket then, he said will do a 2nd time just to check and then it didn't change colour? It over heats after about 10mile drive every time or after about 20minute drive. Its still got this problem. He did take rad cap off and start her up and said that the coolant shouldn't be spitting and bubbling out like that... also.... top rad hose hot and tight? Bottom cold thanks guys
  10. Doing that tomorrow after work
  11. That's a little risky I feel though... dont want to be stranded or cause more damage
  12. I was giving it some welly about 2weeks ago and the top rad pipe burst and then over heated I had that replaced and I changed thermostat last Thursday and done coolant
  13. Tried a bit of both really
  14. It fluctuates between normal temp and just under the red. I have just been on a 10mile drive no problem and temp was as it should be with no faults no over heating... So puzzled by this
  15. I have burped it a few times now, top hose gets hot then fan kicks in and it cools of a bit haven't checked bottom one other then for leaks. I bumped it starting car with cap off letting bubbles all stop then top up with water same process and then putting cap back on
  16. I have roughly 50/50 and there's definitely no pink stains
  17. Also haven't seen a water leak and I've been.under it about 3 times now don't seem to have any leak. And edge of gaskets seem to look alright as well
  18. The fan kicks in when the car reaches correct temp (going by gauge) buy coolant sensor hadn't even though about it. I'm going to try drive it to the Scooby specialist garage nearby that done my clutch to see if they can help tomorrow this is. Depending on what sniff comes up with
  19. What else would cause over heating? My friend coming later with sniff test the blue fluid
  20. I do know what a sniff test is, but of cause still worth having a general sniff. All I can smell is coolant
  21. I did poke my nose in but all smelt pretty normal, I will have a look on Google now thanks
  22. Yeah there was a bit of bubbling going on, I just won't wanna drive it to a garage to get snif done if it's going to damage driving
  23. Hi all... I have an 07 WRX Ej25 My car has started over heating. My reservoir keeps refilling unroll engine has cooled down. Going back about 3 weeks ago I had the rad pipe burst. I had that changed when I cot my clutch done, worked fine for couple of days then over heating again. Changed the thermostat and again worked fine for about 4 days then over heating again. I have drained all the coolant out and replaced with more... seems to be idling ok at the moment. I inspected the heads couldn't see any noticeable signs of leakage, and can't smell the eggy smell or see and white gunk. So at the moment I'm very puzzled please anyone share a little advice. Thanks
  24. Anybody able to help with 07 WRX overheating?
