I've looked it up and apparently when the hardpipe is fitted it gives just over 56% more flow over the wrx unit. That can't be bad! Hope I can get a bargain there, too

I've been wanting to upgrade my black slanty intercooler to something a bit bigger, but don't want front mount due to my ARC intake, and don't want to chop the engine bay around to fit a newage. I war told that an STi slanty wax the best bet, but that they're rare to find. Well, I've justy got one, for the huge price of £12!!!!! It's serviceable add it is, but could do with the finds being replaced at some point. All I need now is the correct pipe for it and I stick it on. A good deus work!

I think it was http://www.japperformanceparts.co.uk but i can't really remember as I bought so many birds at once from all over. It works beautifully. No issues with running rich due to no bov, no heat soak as it's drawing air from the original place, and it makes a beautiful sound. Play these videos loud, preferably through headphones!

Today's job has been to fit The Arc Super Intake Chamber. Easy to do, using all the old bolts and fittings. Makes a lovely sounds! You can hear the turbo sucking air in, and the recirculation valve is louder than any box I've heard. It also improved throttle response slightly and had smoothed out the boost coming on. Well worth the money! https://youtu.be/U0kTOENonwA

,Next issue to tackle is my speakers. The caet has probably the worst stereo I've ever come across! I've replaced the head unit with an excellent Kenwood unit with Bluetooth and everything else, and I've put in new rear speakers. Unfortunately the drivers side rear isn't working. The other side is very quiet too. I know the new units work, so the problem must be elsewhere. Any ideas?

Done! Is actually made a bit of difference. There used to be a little flat spot at around 2500rpm that's now gone. It pulls cleaner through the revs too. Worth doing for £30.

Well I got the kit as a freebie in reform for some promo work, and add it came really hurt I thought I'd give it a try. So, it sounds like I should actually unplug the maf electric connection and the pipework then? They would make sense as the ecu wouldn't get any signal from it.

Hi all, I need your advice. I recently bought some turbo cleaner which requires me to spray it into the intake of a cold, running engine, after the maf. But, as soon as I unclip my intake pipe after the maf, the engine cuts out. Should it, or should it keep running? If it should cut out, how do I add my spray? Thanks all.

Well, I've finally got round to removing the intake resonator from the Gravel Express. I bought a delete pipe a while back, only to find they it was too short. Luckily I had some old hardpipe lying around, so it was bodging time! After I'd cut the pipe to length and had it plumbed in, I found that the line from the solenoid didn't reach! EBay rescued me with a meter of vac pipe for £1.50 and it was finally on. It's made precisely zero difference to the sound, power or anything else! It looks better I suppose, but that's about it. Anyway here are the pics.

Cheers guys! It's nice to have an unusual motor, and nice that people know about it! I'm really liking it so far. Apart from the quality of the stereo that is. Terrible sound quality typical of old Japanese cars. I'll be looking to fix that asap. Hopefully I'll be able to join you at shows over the summer, but as I'm down at the end of the universe in South Wales, we'll have to see.

Purchased one metre of 6mm internal diameter silicone pipe from ASH at the vast cost of £1.80 Inc postage. Why can't all mods and bits be that cheap! Cheers!
-
Cheers Savage. I just put the resonator back in until I can get some. I'll check ash out later.

I'm trying to remove my intake resonator on my V2, and so I bought a delete pipe. Unfortunately, as well as having three inputs instead of the two my box has got, it's about 3 inches short! Anyway, I've put a screw in one of the ports to seal it off, and I've used an old offcut hardpipe to extend it with a silicone joiner. The only trouble is, the hose from the bottom of the boost solenoid is now too short! Does anyone know where I can get some? I'm needing about an extra 2 inches on top of what's there already. So about 8 or 10 inches.

£2750. Not bad with all the bits and being rare. There's a little bubbling on one arch as it seems that they've been rolled and is split a little. Nothing that can be easily fixed.
-
Well guys, I've got it! Nice condition with a boot load of spares including doors, wings, rear lights, window glass, a clutch and more. It's got the TD05 turbo with 3 port solenoid, a Japspeed decat bellmouth downpipe attached to a Fujitsubo exhaust with the resonators removed. Braided hoses, 4 pot rear brakes with drilled and grooved discs and a few other bits. It came with the original Subaru service book and loads of documentation. I've got a stainless uppipe, an intake resonator box delete pipe and an ARC intake box to go on soon. I love it already! Here's a pic and a vid of the sound.

I've finally picked up my first Subaru, and so far I love it. Apart from the door mirrors. They flap about! The whole unit moves when it shouldn't, it's annoying especially on the motorway. Any ideas?
-
I've just read that build. Beautiful work. Nice to see something done the correct way. I think that I'll be looking for a v1 STi top mount after reading all that! In theory it should be a straight swap. I'd like a front one, but they all seem to be set up for newer versions.
-
Would a front cooler be easier?
-
I've thought about doing the cooler to an STi with the nice y pipe. That should be sufficient I'd imagine? I don't want silly power, but I like to build in a little extra scope instead of maxing things out. Shopping again then! Thanks mate.
-
How do I tell which turbo it's got? The downpipe is decatted already and is recently been serviced, so should be good to go then. If I do upgrade the pump, would I need injectors too?
-
Cheers guys. Apparently it's a 1996 WRX with the slanty intercooler, but with higher ride height and the bars etc. 290hp would be sufficient, but If I wanted to be able to go higher, or to give a bit of breathing space, what would I be looking at? I'm in Pembrokeshire, South Wales and there aren't any mappers around that I know of, so if it's worth travelling, I don't mind.

Hi guys, just like to introduce myself as a new owner. In a couple of weeks I'll be picking up a 1996 Gravel Express. Something a bit different to the other Impreza's running around. I'm just wondering if anyone has any info about these? I know it's based on a wrx with the td04 turbo, but I've read somewhere that as it's a wagon it will be less powerful than a saloon? I'd like to give it a bit of a boost and as such the car is fitted with a K&N panel, intake resonator delete, stainless up-pipe, decat stainless downpipe and a Fujitsubo exhaust. Is there much more I can do to it? I'd imagine a remap is in order, and I know that I'd need to change the ecu, but would it be wise to upgrade the fuel pump and injectors first? I'd also appreciate any advice on where to have a good map etc. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hopefully being able to help you all sometime.

I don't think I'd buy one that's been faffed with unless I knew who by. This does seem to be a genuine low mileage original.
-
Thanks, but there's no boost control, that's part of the reason I am interested. I think it's just me not being used to turbos! It's not been used properly for a while, but passed the MOT on Monday with no advisory.
