Low-Pitched grinding from front brakes

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I started noticing a sort of low-pitched grinding sound when coming to a stop slowly- if I stop harshly there is no sound and if I am just slowing (eg from 50-40) I don't hear the sound.

I replaced both sets of disks and pads in June of last year- and haven't heard anything from the wear indicators so I don't think it's metal to metal contact...

I'm having a look and changing pads anyway over the weekend to hope it cures it but if the noise doesn't go, does anyone know what could be causing this?

I would guess some crap is stuck between the pad and the disc
