Bugeye Wagon seat split pin issue

On my fix list of my recently acquired Bugeye Wagon is the 60/40 seatsplit

Currently the 60 folds down no problem however when I pull the grey plastic pin for the '40' the pin comes away in my hand leaving me no way of folding the seat.

any advice on how to approach this job / work-arounds etc would be much appreciated

anyone any clue for starters; not sure how to access the mechanism if I can't fold it over to see the hook clip...?
