access key not detected

I am randomly getting the message access key not detected. I have changed the battery twice with good quality ones (Maxell) and problem still persist. I have to start the car pressing the key against the strat/stop but it isn't ok because the locks aren't working.

Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution or is it a trip to the dealer (I would like to avoid as my Subaru dealer isn't close to home).
