Advice re DMF on 130hp 2005 Legacy 2.0

Hello there, My wife's shopping/dog wagon is immobile.

2005 Legacy 167000 miles, new stainless exhaust, new brakes, All new Goodyear tyres, no rust, smooth and economical.

Noise from transmission then pedal to the floor. Unable to disengage clutch; with my limited knowledge, I suspect release bearing or pressure plate, so the clutch system needs replacing. I have quotes of £700 complete from trusted local garage which I have accepted.

Nevertheless, I questioned Subaru and have finally had confirmation that there is a Dual mass flywheel; my local garage is unable to source a DMF from GSF:smile: or Eurocarparts , they say their only other option is Subaru.......

£2007+ vat..... £2408 just for a flywheel!! There is no way I am paying that.

So they refuse to investigate the clutch flywheel now. We have already waited two weeks and need to get her mobile fairly soon.

Please any advice on whether to consider reusing the DMF once examined or a cheaper pattern part.

Thanks very much
