Noisy vacuum pump

Featured Replies

Hello all - I’ve been on a bit of a wild goose chase with a noise I have on my XV. It can only be described as a sound similar to a ‘gazoo’, which changes tone with the revs and seems to periodically cause the car to smoke excessively. I thought I’d finally found the culprit in the vacuum solenoid, but turns out the noise is travelling along a thin vacuum pipe (clipped to the inlet manifold) to the vacuum pump - I proved this be blowing into it and the sound resonated from the pump all the way through the pipe. So, my question is are these pumps serviceable, as I notice there are 3 bolts keeping it together. If so, where can I purchase such a kit? Other options would be to buy second hand or new. Any help will be very much appreciated.

The vacuum pump on my 1017 Levorg has been noisy since I got the car more than 4years ago with no ill effects. There are a few used ones for sale on eBay, depending on whether yours is diesel, petrol, 1.6, or 2.0.
