dezmond_vr6 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 How often do u guys do your cambelts? Just tryin to sort out a service but want to make sure I'm getting everything in that needs doin.
Gambit Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 About 60k is recommended but worth doing the water pump at the same time because if that goes after you have had it done you will be paying for it to be done again :( 2
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 So mine was done at 33k I've covered 66k now. So should be ok for another 20k? But it was done 5 years ago by looks of it.
Gambit Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Oh yeah I would look at getting it done mate I think the book says 60k or every 5 years what ever comes 1st.
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Oh bollox that's not cheep job. Only just bought the f**ker as well. Should it really matter? What is the issue of the year? If the miles haven't been done?
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 I think the manual says first cambelt should be done at 66k or 84 months (7 years) which ever comes first. As mine was done at 33k and was 5 years ago does that basically mean it can do another 33k or 2 years before it need doin??
quit Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I do mine soon as I get the car , tensioners the lot for peace of mind
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 How much this gona cost me at Subaru? Any idea?
quit Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Don't use em as that reason lol , any decent garage using good parts would be about 400 I would guess
quit Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Dealer ?? My belt kit was near that much to buy but I did buy a up rated oil pump and better belt
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 Yea mate rang Middlesbrough branch they gave me that price. No service or anything just cambelt change.
quit Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 That's pretty good if it's the tensioners and pump too
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Not sure if it is actually !Removed! will have to find out.
Gambit Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 It is good with it on I'm sure I was quoted about £380 with pump.
dezmond_vr6 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 That was just belt change. With tensioners and pump it's 1k pluss. !Removed! sake. Anyone no how much places like scooby clinic charge to do the full thing. Or anywere that's decent price but subaru skilled thanks.
Gambit Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I won't go anywhere else for them jobs it's 158 mile round trip for me to use martin but worth it. http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/4658-5heffield-5ubaru-5ervice/ If it's close enough to you I'm going on that because you said Scooby Clinic. And from members on here I wouldn't recommend them.
