Hi guys, I've bought a nearly new stainless backbox for my bugeye. It is the correct exhaust. The problem is that the pipe diameter on the backbox is approx 3" where the pipe on the car (middle section is approx 2 1/4" - 2 1/2" is there any kind of adaptor I can get instead of cutting off the flanges and using a reducer?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

I'm not sure mate. I've always struggled with exhausts hence why I've always taken them to the local exhaust place to fit :(

Not sure if any of the other members can give more details than me sorry.

i got a 3" cat back system with my donor car and was wondering the same thing lol if you find anything out be sure to post it up here so i can "steal" the idea too :D

All sorted now , it was me just being a bit of a numpty. I measured the diameter of the backbox pipe which was 2 1/2" and I wrongly assumed that the rest of the exhaust would be the same, but no! The rest of the exhaust is 3".

I've looked on eBay Nigel but could find anything!

So I'd do what gambit does and take it to your local exhaust fitter. Mine only charged me a tenner and that included new gasket, new bolts & a brew

Cheers guys

i was told that you can use reducers but i think if it's only going to cost me 10-20 quid then i might aswell try a local garage

Glad to hear you sorted it all the same even if you did measure it wrong :D

a reducer would have to be made or a sleeve.why are you running 3" if you dont mind me asking ?

on a back box or cat back the size won't alter bhp, but should sound better.

on a 3" exhaust the holes are normally elongated, so a 3" should bolt straight onto a 2.5"
