  1. They are getting rare, I witnessed one in black like mine sell for 12k on ebay, it was concourse and the black was an optional extra like mine, however as most of the boy racers of this era are unaware of what it is many car have ended up embarrassed, especially evo's and Scooby drivers.
  2. update, spoken to Scooby clinic and so far it would seem they are passing the blame, however they are looking at the car on Friday but when I asked if it was for free they said they would let me know.
  3. Hi mate, if its full decated you will have had uppipe done, here is the one that was on my bugeye and it sounded mint, but do what I call the youtube seal of approval :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/01-06-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-GD-GG-S-STEEL-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-/200623605217?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb61945e1
  4. what make is the after market one. just out of curiosity do you have stainless headers, downpipe, up pipe, cats ?, middle boxes etc, as if you want to go louder these are the things to change without compromising the overall sound. For example my bugeye had 2.5inch back, no cats and one middle resonator (silencer) into a pretty small back box (toyosport) and a 2.5 inch uppipe, this gave a very loud but satisfying Scooby burble at idle, then I replaced the headers for unequal length stainless and it made it sound a lot louder but still sounded great. Now my Classic is the same but 3 inch back into a Jasma backbox which is huuuuuge the overall sound isn't as loud but the tone is a lot deeper. I guess what im trying to get at is a full system may be more beneficial in the long run if you don't already have one. As always hope this helps.
  5. Are you looking at it due to a mate having it or because its on Ebay ?, search toyosport exhaust on ebay for the bugeye, if I remember you can get the full lot for about £180, I had it on my bugeye and it sounded amazing, as for your question a couple of searches on numerous threads say that it can :) http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f52/will-02-wrx-exhaust-fit-05-sti-10760/
  6. no I don't think you did put too much on it :), As for the theory of not giving it the beans that doesn't count either, mine used to get regular right peg and mine still did it. let me know if it doesn't improve it.
  7. yeah ive been looking into getting that, an escort RS turbo had it as standard but the gearbox is like rocking horse.
  8. best way to do this is take off the intercooler, as once that is off you can check the pipes on the intercooler and make sure that has no cracks, this will then give you a big open space to check all the pipes on the turbo and the wastegate, it could be anything from a tiny pin prick to a big split that is causing it. is it the original turbo that was on since new, if so it may be getting slightly tired.
  9. someone else has posted a thread stating similar issues to yourself, http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/2223-rpm-and-boost/ ive given a walkthrough in there with things to do, as for the taking it apart, I just made sure it was fully lubed with WD, didn't bother taking it apart as the spring wasn't collapsed it was just sticking wide open. Hope this helps :)
  10. I'm in Sheffield matey, so about 25-30 mins from you.
  11. while the turbo is bedding in ive had the boost turned down to minimum, so around 200bhp at the moment, and its a complete animal at handling, no power steering and no ABS, so if you make a mistake you have to basically react fast or crash :) , im doing it up to be a 0-60 and show car though so handling etc was really a big issue.
  12. they always say that you tell 2-5 people on average of a good experience and 20+ of a bad one.
  13. I don't have the screws but I shall give you the link to it on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121165308032?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649, it has sold but the guy who has bought it states he accidentally hit bid, yet he bidded on it 8 times, so its going through ebay to get reinburshed. the bit where its ABS shows its genuine.
  14. I have an STI Genuine classic spoiler with Brake light all ready to go in primer if your interested and yours for just £80 :)
  15. could be that you have a tired pipe on the turbo causing a slight boost leak, do you have an exhaust system on the car or is it standard ? do you have an air filter or when was the last time the air filter was changed/cleaned.
  16. I believe 2001 onwards are different to the classic due to the size and weight difference in the cars. however I may be wrong.
  17. If you get stuck post a picture and ill be more than happy to help.
  18. No problamo, let me know how you get on.
  19. when you press it in the piston inside the dv moves, if you have sprayed it with WD this will work the WD into the inside of the DV, sorry for not making sense, long day :)
  20. Hi all, just thought I would dedicate a thread towards anyone building a project car. Well here goes, what you see below is my 3 years transformation from wreck to super fast. The car in question is an original Fiesta RS turbo in Ash Black, started life as H2RST, and was owned by a few people, ended up as a chavs wet dream and this is where my story with it unfolds, I had a mint shell of a mk 3.5 fiesta SI 1.6 but I had out grown the engine and it was at its limits even with a chip it was only running around 110bhp, this is when I decided to do an engine conversion, I research all the methods of turbo'ing my engine but figures wasn't great and the cost was even worse, while dreaming on piston heads I came across the said Fiesta Rs in its very sorry state,Turbo, lowered, alloy wheels, Recaros all stood out to me, but something about the car just didn't add up, so off I trotted 2/5 hrs later I arrived in Birmingham, the lock had been pulled off, the car was keyed, it even came with a novelty postcode etched in the bonnet, but all I cared about was the engine and the recaro's. The engine didn't want to turn over full stop, so I left, I messaged the lady saying I would give £800 for the car as at worst I could make it back in parts alone, a deal was struck for £950 and recovery was arranged. 40 mins of looking the car over I noticed that the car had a manual fuel pump switch and a faulty batter, these were swapped and the car Roared to life. Well enough of the chit chat. spec as follows: Full EBC drilled and grooved discs EBC race pads Full stage 2 radiator Stage 2 front mount intercooler Coilovers all round Stripped back seats out Cobra Racing harnesses Front Strut brace T3/34 Stage 3 Turbo Technics Cosworth hybrid Custom Stainless Exhaust and Down pipe Aftermarket Stainless Fuel Pressure Regulator Turbo Cooler Full Stage 3 Custom Map Hertz Component Speakers Alpine Headunit Bad Boy bonnet (love it or hate it ) Boost gauge and voltmeter in Carbon Pod Stainless Braided Fuel Lines Changes to front bumper revealed soon Uprated Fan Switch and Custom fan K&N Air filter with custom pipe work Abs Taken off with custom brake lines fitted. And loads of other tiny bits and bobs. but Alas a picture paints a thousand words. a few without the bumper on. Thanks for looking. please post your projects.
  21. yeah, if you look directly at the bottom of the DV, push the piston part :)
  22. get yourself some silicone lubricant spray or use WD40, take the dumpvalve off, if its attached to the intercooler its 2 12mm bolts, and undo the vacuum hose, this is connected to top of dumpvalve, no with the dump valve spray some directly into the bottom of the DV (dumpvalve) then press the bottom, you may have to use a bit of force and move it a few times just to spread the oil around, then spray some into the opening part of the DV the part that makes the psssstt sound. wipe any excess with a cloth or tissue and allow 10mins for it to work into itself. Refitting is reserve of removal becarful no to over tighten the screws into the intercooler, then start the car, the dump valve should open, now carefully spray a tiny bit into the open dump valve and rev a few times, nothing excessive but enough to move your dumpvalve. As for the boost controller I wouldn't worry about it just I found mine had a manual boost controller that was causing mine not to boost :) hope this helps.
  23. also we need a general chat, for no related Scooby stuff, a none car part sales bit and maybe one for insurance so too maybe attract discount, monthly pic and maybe like advice/knowledge area, and an area dedicated to unwinding.
  24. Well they still have chance to redeem themselves yet but I have a feeling im a very small fish in there already big pond.
  25. about 2000-2500 mine used to start to spool, make sure you have no air leaks, manual boost controllers and that your dump valve isn't stuck open. is the car smoking at all from the exhaust when revved ?.
