Differenced between 03 WRX and 05 STI
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to rodgemx125's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
the back arms are different although will bolt up but you'll need all the links and bars to change it over, I'm looking into doing a full polybush and need a spare set so been looking at WRX models. Just to say though depends on the price of the bars etc you may be better off grabbing some lovely whiteline goodies or similar bars to improve the chassis a bit if thats what your after? Keep us posted what you discover! -
always save the best to last :D back in the civilised world with internet again after about a week of nothing! Hope the room gets some hits and meets arranged!!

With everyones wish lists for christmas i think Santa's sled might need a tune to haul all the gearboxes we want lol :P

See ive been in them for track days in the fiesta's and i found them supportive but as you say on a long journey....different kettle of fish altogether. If i can retain the existing seatbelt i probably will for now, have spied a harness bar made for the blob which allows you to fit it at full extension (im 5ft10 anyways so dont need it all the way back with GANGSTA lean on... lol) will need to measure it all up and see what the craic is :) And ill just park far away from people getting in and out.......so i dont have a celebrity flashing moment......especially being scottish, dont want anyone seeing up my Kilt lol :D

Ok so intercooler undertray arrived, as stated by the company Goggle EDO performance :) Not fitted it yet but can report back in a couple of weeks about fitment if anyone wants to wait before ordering as im completely unsure if it will be a perfect fit due to being away from the car just now! But it cant hurt to take a look at the website :D

Ouch! just doing a gearbox swap myself after diff bearings started playing their song to my ears everytime i drove! Hope you find a cheap and decent 6 speed soon mate and may the power Increase :)

Depending on Spec might be worthwhile to break it (only if its going to become a major headache and you cant sell it otherwise) they are plenty of breakers out there to see what they would offer you, even one in Ayrshire who is very reputable.

Right guys, As the title suggest this is a question about bucket seats. Managed to pick up two of these for a rockbottom price. and i know a few guys running them in track fiestas, and they are very comfortable for knocking around the track. So i picked them up as intending on making myself an office chair for my house, BUT debating if i have two why not try and fit them to the Subaru for when i take the scooby to Germany for a few laps ;) anyone used these seats in a subaru and what their thoughts are to getting them fitted in and out? would be adding a harness obviously with either mounting to the car or via a harness bar strapped across the rear seats. Oh and if anyone knows someone with the mounts i would be interested as I only have the seats with side bar runners without the subframe mounts so need to pick one up to try it out first lol Any info appreciated guys and hope everyones having a good weekend :) Cheers Danny

should have added chamfered holes in the disc dont give problems B) certain makes have just straight through holes which under heavy braking, wear and tear. Just due to poor finish in the manufacturing process causes them to have raised edges (As mentioned before) which creates stress points. Had drilled and grooved in my other cars (not the scooby so far) and had no issues with them :D Keep us posted as to what you go for, be interesting to see your choice and what your reply is to use etc. as you can see from everyone plenty of information out there and endless choices!!!!

Same mileage/age spec'd ones online with damaged bodywork but fully running engines can fetch decent money, might be worthwhile doing the gaskets, running it for a while, then sell on again IMO.

Done this myself! Heated up the badges with a heat gun (outside and at a very safe distance as not to disturb the paint) until the badges swelled slightly, used an old credit card to remove the badges. Then used some Acetone (nail polish remover) and had a bucket with a wet rag in it and a drying towel. proceeded to remove the glue with the acetone and every so often washed it all off with the rag, dried it off, then repeat until it was all gone. Afterward, good cut and polish then three coats of wax (Petes 53 = top stuff) Looks mint without the subaru badges, only one i kept was the WRX badge as to make folk think its still standard tune....but we all know different dont we ;)

Haha thanks Gambit your no too bad yerself ;) lol i use it on nearly every single forum im on!! It was my first ever e-mail address i had as a teenager and i just use it as people never generally forget such a messed up name!! on the plus side ive never been denied that user name either so i suppose its laziness as well in thinking up a new one. always think i should change it but never do lol :)

If your looking for a better brake with standard callipers then upgrade a few parts: Braided Hose Kit Anti Flex Bulkhead Kit (cheap upgrade :) ) Grooved (id go against drilled as can be prone to failure if cheap) Discs And some good pads (Ferodo DS2500 or similar) Im running braided hoses, bulkhead flex kit, SWRD discs front and back but put OEM pads in. Noticed a great braking difference until the pads disappeared all over my wheels after a few months so now running mintex and feeling the benefits greatly and the pads arent wearing away like they used to. They werent breaking the bank either and a cheap upgrade point if your changing it out anyway. heard good things about Godspeed brakes as well so thats worth a look but aint cheap! :) One thing id advise is generally speaking and from a few close call personal experiences in my old RS (lets just say thank the lord it was late and the Junction was empty as i ended up the other side of it) that going cheap on the brakes is the last thing to do. id rather put cheap fuel in my car and stay off boost for 3 months to afford good brakes than buying cheap ones as end of the day its the one thing that keeps your pride and joy intact when you need them most. unfortunately being a scooby the price tag comes with them most of the time. Upgrading the brakes on the car as well is a good idea, Alcons, D2, K-sport, Brembo's, all fantastic upgrades but you pay the price for them and most of those brands are really only going to benefit you if your going full beans around a track, not if going to tescos and back is the priority lol mind you, those carparks are getting pretty intricate these days...... Keep us posted as to what you pick and let us know how your set up is :) End of the day its what you find and what works for you and your style of driving :)

looking for advice please
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to wayne68's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Depending what you want for the future Standalone management could be the way to go, Its costly at first and good amount of research needs doing into what you want the management to achieve (Engine, Set up, Mafless, sensor arrangments, wideband sensors etc etc) Buying new gives you complete peace of mind and is good to know that from the word go you have a blank ECU essentially and can keep all information to changes in your paper box for the future or if you decide to sell up etc. Got a good few options for tuners as well so best to look up their sites as well depending on who you want to tune your car you can get the ECU which they prefer/get the best results from, and SAFELY!!! too many folk say they can get 400BHP from certain tunes but thats all well and good so long as your AF isnt running 10.5 lol :) we can all make 400BHP for about 5 seconds lol -
Dual AVCS compatibility
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to nvr2lt2sk8's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Hopefully can pull up some info on it in the future to see what block arrangements would work or if they can be modified to take the heavy boost im looking for. was wanting CDB due to the strength but thinking it would probably be just take a full Dual AVCS engine and forge it, but im sure they are SCDB's..... grrrr i hate the slow internet at work, slows down research DRAMATICALLY!! Cheers for the info Jay762 -
Just waiting on a delivery from the States for my Zero Sports undertray, will let you know if it ever arrives (apparently its on its way from Japan but no update after a week) will post a link to it if it arrives as described so you can pick one up :) Found it hard to find a UK supplier of them. Let us know how you get on with the intercooler as well and what you go for, and a pic to prove ;)

Dual AVCS compatibility
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to nvr2lt2sk8's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I know i need all new sensor arrangements so think will take a new loom from a model running with Dual AVCS and either splice in or completely renew the loom (why not as its an upgrade/decent mod) already running an aftermarket ECU which can support it which isnt too bad. spoke to my tuner and he would be keen to see what it would make on the rollers but im a fair old distance from getting anything together at this stage. What are you planning if your looking into it? Was worried like an older series CDB might not have sufficent oil passages/ability to supply the heads. but thats something will need to sit and work out on paper (providing i can get some info from Tomei in regards to operating parameters) Also worried about running a fully forged stroker with the dual AVCS with regards to monitoring Equipment. running a wideband exhaust sensor at the minute but have a feeling AVCS would benefit from a few more sensors closer to the outlets and inlets to regulate the control of the AVCS during acceleration through the rev range. Again need to speak to Tomei and see what they say, will try and shoot them an e-mail at some point this week. -
RPM AND BOOST
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to scoobysteve2410's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
As aforementioned give the leaks a good check out, could even be a split gasket on the DV thats causing the boost to be a bit freaky and lumpy. dodgy MAF (or dirty) / Boost Controller/ TGV's lots of options to why the 3K engage. My blob used to come onto boost at 3K and found out my TGV's were dropping a little which was causing the boost unable to come on until above 3K. they are now jacked open and im changing to an STI8 manifold to erradicate the problem. -
Dual AVCS compatibility
nvr2lt2sk8 replied to nvr2lt2sk8's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
p.s if anyone has a system diagram of the AVCS system i would appreciate it as can check out blocks at my local garage when im home and Dual AVCS heads are as rare as hens teeth up my way. cheers :) -
Alright Guys, Was looking into fitting a set of Dual AVCS heads from Tomei to a closed deck block for a future build which will involved a stroker kit and a lot of saving up. I dont know if its completely possible yet as not had a chance to do much research so its just a dream at present as dont know what sort of lines have to be in place for the AVCS to operate (as im assuming a later model CDB wont have the capability of providing the oil pressure for it) Just wondering if anyone has ran Dual AVCS whilst mapping or under tuning and if they have any reccomendations for using the system under this type of build? Any information is great :) and in true tesco fashion ever little helps :) CheeRS Danny

Just about to fit the lightened flywheel and Exedy pink box clutch with anti judder to mine, Aztec Performance was the website I got it from under recommendation. had a competition Clutch against my old flywheel which has held out quite well considering the old flywheel was fairily worn (and caused the clutch to burn a fair bit whilst bedding in, but that stopped after bed in period) and it still shifted the blobeye down the road no problems :)

Sweet sounds good, would like to be able to be more involved but unfortunately this lifestyle doesnt really help with organising anything being away 8 months of the year!!! Keep us posted :) CheeRS
