  1. Like I said anyone can find this info. And I'm not expert. My wastegate rattled due to the rod hole being warn from age. This just reset the actuator rod. It was not for performance reasons and I'm not telling people about it for those reasons. Just if anyone else has a rattling waste gate it may help them reset it
  2. Right this seemed to work for me so if anyone wants to try it be my guest back don't take this as fact. I got rid of my waste gate rattle by preloading the wastegate on the turbo. This is easy to do but be careful not to over load it as it will do damage down the line. If you take the shielding off of your turbo you will see the waste gate actuator rod. If it's corroded I would douse it in WD40 as you don't want to cause the threads to damage. Carefully crack off the 10mm nut on the rod. Then with a small flat blade screw driver carefully remove the circlip off of the wastegate link. Lift off the rod from the wastegate. Once removed push the wastegate shut with your finger and wind in the actuator rod until you can slide it off and on the shaft without any interference. Once this is done turn the rod (shortening the length) by another 1 to 1 and a half turns. You will then have to pull the rod slightly to fit it back on the waste gate but this has preloaded the actuator. Refit the circlip and tighten the nut. If you get any fluffing noises once this is done just back off the rod by half a turn until it stops. It's much easier to do than it sounds trust me. Mine is boosting better and feels like a different car. Once again I'm no expert but after much research this seems to be a standard wastegate actuator preloading sequence. Hope this helps anyone else.
  3. No worries. I'm no expert though so as long as its all taken with that in mind.
  4. It probably needs backing off a half turn. Once I know for sure I'll post what I've done. But it is really simple
  5. Well it boosts better but needs tweaking as I'm getting sight over boost. It's pretty straight forward to do though
  6. Will do. Should know by tomorrow if I get a chance to look at it.
  7. Just gotta hope the threads don't strip. Doused them in oil so hopefully with a little heat they will loosen. Failing that I'll take it off and clean it up properly.
  8. Do e a little research and looks like the preload can be set up this should sort it out. I had to beat off a turbo but when changing the down pipe. It's possible it put some play in it. I'll try that first I think otherwise breakers it is lol
  9. Cheers Gambit Yeah with it running at idle if you apply a bit of pressure you can get it to stop. I'll try to adjust it a little but its very corroded so I'll have to go careful.
  10. Hey everyone. I think my wastegate actuator rod on my classic have worn as it sits really loose on the wastegate and rattles when idling. Does anyone know a good place to get a new actuator or even a fix for it. Cheers
  11. Cool I'll have a look for tapatalk. My profile pic is my motor. Just getting the missus to join up too
  12. That was the next plan. I work in a body shop so hopefully can sort anything out
  13. I need to have a goods out on here for the boot leaking problems. Found the wheel well a tad full
  14. Know where you're coming from there lol. I've wanted one for years but couldn't afford it
  15. Trying to figure out how to use the mobile version. Hopefully have some on here soon. Me and the missus have just bought one each
  16. Hey everyone. After a long time of being a vw enthusiast I've bought myself a scooby. Hopefully gonna check some shows through the year.
