Is it neccessary to stop damage to other components in the engine bay? I assume there's a difference in sound too?

Just had a new downpipe fitted on the impreza; 3.5inch sports cat. The turbo heat shield is still on but from the turbo to the cat back is just the exhaust tubing. I'm still running a top mounted intercooler so I was wondering would it be worth heat wrapping from the turbo down to the cat back pipe? I'm concerned that without the original heatshield from the OEM downpipe, I'm creating additional heat in the engine bay. Should I wrap and if so, any specific brand/make?

Just bought the Japspeed sportscat downpipe for my classic ver6 JDM STi and fitting it this Friday! :-) Does the standard heat shield just go back on over the top or do I have to grab some wrap from eBay? http://www.japspeed.co.uk/subaru-impreza-classic-gc8-sports-cat.html

I was thinking of getting the prodrive sports cat, but I'm a bit clueless when it comes to down pipes. Had a hard enough time choosing a cat back so I had a custom one built lol.

So, my version 6 WRX STi JDM down pipe has rusted and thus sheered from it's flange! The catback exhaust is custom but not the down pipe. Any recommendations on a decent down pipe? I'd like to stay legal and insured so a sports cat too I guess.. unless they're not recommended? I assume it'll need a map tweak too if I get a sports cat? I've had it mapped already, it's at 327bhp :)
