Hi all, so I recently fitted a new sound system into my classic Impreza. Annoyingly though I have somehow managed to stop my rear lights working. Brake lights are fine in fact all other lights work fine. Does anyone know if there is a connection behind the head unit I may have got wrong and if so what colour wire I should be looking for when I take it out again. I'm sure it won't take forever to work out but if I could get a quick answer that would speed things along. I've been meaning to write a post about the install but will wait until the boot build is totally finished. Ps it's not a fuse Thanks everyone

Hi all, can anyone help me with the best place to run a 4awg cable through the firewall in my 96 wrx sti? Ideally of course I would like to squeeze it through an existing grommet. Seriously not keen on making holes if I don't need too. If anyone had fitted amps recently that has found the best route it would really help. Cheers

Genuine exhaust? Help me find one please
Checkers replied to Checkers's topic in General Subaru Chat
This is the thing, I love the sound of the full decat that's on it now. Just really want the genuine back box. For the look. its such a clean car and I love that it's not been played with. Would love someone to advise if it's possible to have a section made up to allow me to run genuine back box off the current turbo back decat system -
Hi All, I'm trying to find a genuine wrx sti exhaust system for my classic jdm. My car is completely standard except for the de-cat exhaust it currently has on it with the very 90's 4" outlet 😊 I think I'm right in saying the current system is better for power. I just really want her to look completely standard and I quite like the STI twin pipe. So my questions are; 1) Does anyone know where I could source one? 2) is there a chance I could keep it de-cat or would I need to have sections made up to achieve that?

Hi guys, just wandering whether I must replace my flywheel when replacing the clutch? Also still had no recommendations for a subaru savy mechanic in East Sussex. Had nothing from the local forum.

Do Samco not just make silicone hoses? -

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at both. -
So having ascertained that my sudden loss of coolant yesterday seem not to have been a split hose, but the actual radiator giving up in style. I have been looking online and apart from a mishimoto aluminium upgrade I don't seem to be able to find a genuine part anywhere. I am happy to upgrade if it's worth it but would be good to know if there is a good source for parts to know about.

Wish it was! I got all that sorted straight away with a good mechanic friend of mine. Sadly he's now away for a year in oz. basically I need a quality mechanic in the sussex area who can help me ASAP. I'm having to garage her for a while in a couple of weeks for perhaps a year and as you can imagine I'm trying to enjoy my last few days. Sadly on my cool down routine today she decided to develop a coolant leak and immediately got very hot with steam everywhere so can only assume she lost quite a bit. It was definitely coming from the bottom left of the rad as you stand over the engine. Luckily was 30 secs from home so after pulling over for a bit crawled home with heater of full whack. Just want a trusty mechanic in my area. East Sussex near Eastbourne.

If any of you top chaps happen to get an alert on this post please see my other post. Help badly needed from subaru lovers in the know!

I desperately need the knowledgable members of SOC to recommend me a quality mechanic in the East Sussex area. As near to Eastbourne as possible preferably. For one reason and another I may need to wrap my lovely jdm 96 wrx sti v3 in cotton wool very soon and garage her for a while. As a result of this I want to enjoy my last couple of weeks with her. Sadly during my run down routine this evening she decided to develop a coolant leak. Please help! I'm no mechanic and just can't trust any old Mickey Mouse to see it right.

Hi Savage Bulldogs. Definitely will be wax and not underseal. It had new discs and pads all round about 3000 miles ago. I'm going to put it into subaru to check it out for me. Been driving it today and trying to get it to do it again though and it was spot on so could be that I wasn't quite square. It also hadn't been driven for about 9 months before I got it so perhaps just needed using.

I'm going to have the brakes looked at I think. Tyres are fairly new matching Pirelli p6000's and suspension was all looked over in a garage by a friend the day I got it. It's probably nothing much but I want it to have the proper care it deserves.

Ok folks, thanks for all the advice so far. I have my first question. Can anyone tell me what might be the cause of a bit of squirrelling under heavy braking? Straight line that is. Almost like near side gripped more causing it to destabilise.
-
Ok thanks a lot for the advice. I'll try and book a Sunday in a friends workshop :) would steam cleaning the underside be the best way do you think?
-
Hi Pommy. She's my weekend car really so will be keeping the miles down. It'll be garaged every night. I'd read mixed thoughts on underseal. As I had understood it unless you completely strip it down you risk simply sealing rust in. I understood the biggest problem was salt on the roads in the colder months. Thought perhaps jet washing the underside after each use would keep it ok?

Jay762 would be keen to find out about possible group meet etc :) Gambit I think it's doing pretty well for an 18 year old. Just nip that tiny problem in the bud now and she'll be like new. I guess being garaged since she's been in the uk will have helped. Looks mint underneath.

Thanks for the advice Tlag :) happily I know the guy who's had her for the past 10 years. He gave me all exactly the same advice and I shall take great care to adhere to it. I'd always wanted to get an early one as they were my rally heroes as a young lad. Hi Gambit. I've no plans to make any mods. All I plan to do at present is have the small blisters just appearing in the rear arches seen to before they creep round the arches. Other than that I'd like to keep her completely original. I'm sure there are perks but I think she's plenty quick enough.

Got pics, can't see how to get them on?

Thanks guys! How do I get pics on? I'm doing this from my phone and can't see any upload options.

So I'm seriously chuffed with my new purchase. I have an immaculate 96 wrx sti and so far all I can say is wow! Joined in the hope of coming across other local (Eastbourne) owners. Also should I need to know anything I'm guessing this is the place to go!
