I check it at lunchtime, I think the belts are too loose and that is what could be causing the racket. They have been squealing for a while while cold but I have noticed the two belts alternator and power steering have been rubbing against each other and the edge of one of them is worn down with dust everywhere. Oil still seems good like new and my antifreeze is to the top of the radiator and red not just water with no gunk.

Hi I had an oil change done the other day with Triple QX Sythetic 5W/30 and a Bosch oil filter. Last night starting up the car in the frost to go home from work I heard a really bad knocking almost like banging from under the bonnet which slowly subsided after about a minute or two. It did it this morning as well, and its been below freezing when starting up each time, its not like valves ticking it sounds like metal on metal hitting like someone has a hammer tapping the bonnet. The car runs fine after that its just pretty worrying. I have a 05 2.0l WRX blob eye about 120k on the clock. The garage told me they put 4.3l in and it showed nothing on the stick, so they filled it up using 4.7l of oil in total.

Well it looks like they are about 75 quid each and it's the whole assembly that the drum attaches to and can only be changed if you remove the hubs.

Hi thanks for the replys, I had a look on that import car parts site but they are expensive. I will probably get rid of them unless I can find replacements a bit cheaper. Cheers

Hi I have been having some noise from my rear brakes like a constant grinding at low speed that comes and go's and the discs did not look great so ordered some new discs pads and handbrake shoes from eurocarparts and am having the garage down the road fit them. They called me in as the car was on the ramp to show me what was making the noise as I thought it was the handbrake shoes turns out its the disc dust covers that have gone rotton leaving bits of rust in the bottom. What are my options for replacing the dust covers or can they just be got rid of and cut off. The garage are going to clean them up the best they can with a wire brush on a drill and put a bit of anti rust paint on for now. I have MOT next month as well so am wondering if they will affect that, its a 05 plate blob eye WRX 2.0. Cheers Graham
