Thanks aucky just had a look at pics of yours she was a nice example, have you got rid of your hatch now because of headgasket keep thinking I would like a hatch as well but my guys I use who no subaru,s always say to me avoid the 2/5 engine, after reading up it seems either the headgasket go or they get Ringland failure due to a poor map subaru did😊

Nice looking car keep up the good work glad to see another bug eye owner😊I, m currently caught with what turbo to go for everybody keeps saying get a v series 320 bhp easily achieved but after doing a lot of reading i,m thinking a andy forrest hybrid td04 should see 290 to 300 bhp and you must remove up pipe cat and I, m going to fit a 200 cell sports cat and from what I, ve read should be a very usable everyday power plant with good low down boost cheers Phil. ..hope someone with more experience can tell me i, m not talking rubbish..😂

Woke up today to thick snow perfect time to try my winter wheels and tyres .....picked up some second hand alloys off ebay earlier this year cracked out the old air compressor and sprayed them a gun metal grey then to be a bit different added some metal flake to clearcoat gives a real sparkle in the light...A bit nicer ride on 17s will put the 18s back on for summer on some prada or similar tyres..never had snow since owning my Scooby cant believe how good it is I could go whatever speed I felt like especially with the winter tyres on just worried about all the other numptys sliding around into me cheers....

Difference between blobeye wagon and saloon rear bumpers
Scooby1972 replied to irena's topic in General Subaru Chat
I don't think it will fit as the saloon is a bit wider due to flared arches😕 -
I,m no expert but it obviously built up some compression when you turned it and then vented through spark plug area,if spark plugs had been removed at the time compression wouldn't build up shouldn't have caused a problem...hopefully a more knowledgeable member will help out...

Very arty pics those look good😀 do you ever get pulled over for number plate?

Hi Darren glad you like what I have done...when I was looking at getting a scooby I looked at newer ones hawkeyes hatchbacks and but after driving the bug eye it just felt more like I thought a scooby would, my opinion is make the one you,ve got unique to you and you will get more pleasure than a newer one that needs nothing doing..and bug eyes are going up in value all older scoobys are as eventually there won't be many left as at the min people are breaking nice cars as they can make more money ..yours looks a great car keep hold of her!regarding the bonnet scoop it just unbolts of the bonnet and has a under tray I got a sti replica of ebay £60 fits great did need a bit of preparation before painting ie high build primer for a nice flat finish but let's more air in and looks mean as hell when sat in the drivers seat.I derailed my roof had to get roof trims from Japan as there wagons don't have rails cost £180 for two bits of plastic but looks so much sportier..your idea of filling over would look good as well you could then wrap the roof or paint it a offset colour ,I wanted a roof scoop but other half talked me out of it but they look cool obviously you do need to cut a hole in the roof which also put me of a bit but hey no pain no gain😀First job I would advise is unless you no its been done get the cambelt done not worth risking then some good 5/40 fully synthetic oil and a black genuine subaru oil filter of flea bay then you can relax and plan your other mods !any time I can help if I can let me no and there are a lot more knowledgeable people than me on here as well so you never get stuck cheers Phil😁

You might be able to get the snapped key out with some very fine drill bits from the pound shop, put one or two down barrel then rotate anti clockwise they should grab on to key and draw it out that's how locksmiths do it,,worked for me once with a bit of trial and error😀

Just wanted to put up a few pics of my Subaru and what I have done since buying a good cond standard example 3 years ago,i wanted to create a one off sportswagon after seeing pics of a car called the rumble wagon on a us site.I had wide arch saloon front wings fitted with wing vents matching front bumper a bigger bonnet scoop coloured co ordinated side skirts de railed the roof and fitted pro drive headlamps had a full respray in 01g silver but had a bigger met flake added for more pop,I had the wheels powder coated black and the rear windows tinted. After a month I then got her back and have added since, jdm front grill ...rally mud flaps.. rear arch extensions..fog lamp covers..front splitter... race tow flap rear..projector lights in all four doors..and a private reg...and a rear diffuser need to upload a few more pics for some items..My plans this year are a hybrid td04 turbo.... sports cat and catless up pipe and a remap, always wanted a Scooby put really didn't understand the appeal until owning one really enjoy the forum looking at what other people do and getting advice....Hope you like what I have done so far I no wagons aren't for every one but she does now look unique which is what I wanted would love to get a saloon as well to mess with but other half isnt keen I wonder WHY?£££££££££££££££ Sorry I didn't have any before pics I lost memory card she was a nice example standard wrx sportswagon in silver so you can probably imagine cheers for looking Phil...

I needed a new rad 2 week after I got my scooby hairline cracks at the bottom of rad fitted eurocarparts one two and a half years on still fine...saw new ones on ebay for £30 but didn't take the risk may have been okay...

The only difference with the 5/40 oil compared to 10/40 is its a bit thinner for cold starts so your engine shouldn't be running any hotter with this in and the 40 is the thickness when hot..has it been changed regularly as oil in a turbo car can break down quicker than normal...?which could explain temp...? what temp was it after a normal slightly spirited drive as we love to do!
-
Hi the one I got off ebay was fibreglass and it needed quite a bit of preparation with high build primer and blocking to get it to look flat they are great if you get it prepared right if you don't they look wavy when painted especially when the light catches it a certain way☺
-
I think a normal m8 bolt will fit just check the length of one of the others i was missing one after having some work done and mot man pointed it out and I, m sure that's what I fitted it with ,nice to see another bug eye wagon ...as for colour of wheels in think a dark graphite grey look nice i,m thinking of spraying mine that colour and putting some pearl in the clearcoat to pop when the sun shines.I think import car parts as already mentioned do a new front sub frame for £180 that's what I will get if rust gets to be an issue cheers Phil. ..

Maybe front or rear anti roll bar bushes very common rubber gets hard and squeaks can re grease but usually comes back perfect time for some polyurethane

5/40 fully synthetic should be fine I use fuchs or shell helix which is on offer at eurocarparts at the min if you can use a genuine black subaru oil filter from scoobyparts etc cheers Phil. ..

Wrx front brake noises!
Scooby1972 replied to HawkeyeLawrence's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
Are the discs grooved as that will cause a humming noise when driving goes louder when brakes are applied its the pad brushing against the groove....pads may need a stick on anti squeel fitting I took shims off mine as they made a creak sometimes when moving off the drive seems to have gone now... -
Was thinking o getting a classic to ad to my bugeye wagon seen a 2001 turbo 2000 on gumtree full history £1600 no mods other than a exhaust also seen a catalunya for £2500 full history no mods...is a classic going to maybe go up in value are these models worth a look, what things should you look out for on the classics...scared to look at one as will probably want it..
