number plate is it worth anything
Mine came on the car, completely irrelevant to me and I'm seeing new brakes or half the money for coilovers :)

Paint and clean up time
Yeah, it sounds awesome on chat even if quieter more of a deeper tone. As for the pup he's as much a petrol head as I am!! If you meet him on the lead he's very friendly but if he's in the car and anyone other than me approaches the car he goes nuts! Best anti-theft device ever!!!! I reckon once the top is painted up and it's proper two-tone it'll look a lot better, the spoiler and vent look a little out of place at the moment but it'll all come together. An "SOC" Sunstrip would finish it off nicely though ;)

I'll get a pic of it front end on, I gotta admit it does look proper sweet with the camber :)

Okay the latest update, still can't locate an OBD port so I gave up and instead got some camber bolts and a backbox. £20 for the zorst, £25 for the bolts First job was remove the existing pipework, No wonder it was loud!!! New pipe fitted in 10 minutes, it's so much quieter. Next step was camber bolts another surprisingly easier job, after a quick tweak with a ratchet I now have 1.75 degrees of negative camber. Corners like its on rails now!!!! So then I decide the spoiler needed to change colour along with the chrome "SUBARU" on the boot. Masking the lettering was gonna be a nightmare so I wrapped them instead as I had some carbon wrap kicking about I can't take all the credit as my dog decided he wanted to help too Then after spending 30 minutes trying convince Fosterdog he couldn't stay in the boot I removed the spoiler, sprayed it and bolted it back on Next on my list is the roof, a-pillar and c-pillars in satin black and the wheels/brakes still need painting!

Exhaust question
So having posted the same question on FB I've been offered a 3" H&S style backbox, I'll be collecting it on the 23rd, gotta be worth a try :)

Exhaust question
At the moment the config is headers, both cats, then straight pipe, no back box, no middle boxes. This is how it was when I got the car. Would I benefit from fitting a back box?? Apart from reducing the noise would it increase back pressure? By the way its a 97 Sport.

Paint and clean up time
Kinda got a little distracted from the engine bay. I've been playing with my iPad, setting up in the car And I gotta admit I am waiting for warmer weather before I spend hour upon hour outside under the bonnet, I'm getting old now and us old folk feel the cold! Either that or I'm a wimp lol

Paint and clean up time
I'm liking it a lot! Just can't wait to get the rest done. Then I'll start on the engine and bay :)

Paint and clean up time
Ok so I did go for the flat black on the bonnet vent and roof scoop, the spoiler is staying silver and I even got shot of the strange spoiler thing on the wipers and sprayed the wiper arms to tidy them up too. Just got wheels and brakes left to paint On the downside I gotta work for the rest of the week so I'm hoping for at least dry weather this weekend but its looking like its gonna be about 3c and last time I sprayed a set of rims in the front room my Queen lost the plot(I never did understand why?!?)

Paint and clean up time
Hmmmm I was debating between flat black or a BMW metallic called cosmic black

Paint and clean up time
I think the wheels may have to be painted then, as for the bonnet vent I am proper torn :S

squeeling noises?
Depends on how loose it is but I'd try tightening it first if you can't get it proper tensioned then it'd be time for a new belt. That said check the edges of the belt for fraying, if its damaged then replace it

So quick before and after And some all round The blue wheels are actually beginning to grow on me! Still gotta sort that bonnet vent. Did manage to fit the seat covers too and throw a set of mats in there. Looks so much better now its been scrubbed inside and out.

Paint and clean up time
So boys and girls, I have a silver 2.0 sport on a 97 reg. I've spent today disposing of the hideous blue Subaru sweeps and stars, now the only blue is the larger bonnet vent(turbo bonnet), wheels and brakes. The wheels and brakes will be sorted and go black. Now for my dilemma, the bonnet. The bonnet vent needs to change colour do I spray just the vent black, silver, or spray the whole bonnet black?? I'm thinking the spoiler, spats, grill and front lip will be black and I'm not 100% on which way to go with the bonnet. Opinions please

Front cv joint question, please help
HELL NO!! Not guilty of any of the blue on the car, that's why it's all gotta go(that and it looks naff). I went to see how they were getting on with today but by the time I finished work they'd closed so I'm calling in tomorrow and hopefully bringing it home with me!

Front cv joint question, please help
To be honest the first quote I got was £850 for 2 front drive shafts and a clutch and fit them all! I thought that's a bit pricey for a '97 car with 150k on the clock, especially when I've only had the car 3 weeks :( but then I actually love driving this car so I thought there is always more than one way to skin a cat!! After a mooch online I found a new clutch for £108, ordered it. Then a quick flick around the Bay of E and got a pair of shafts with ABS rings £40, ordered them too. Fitting the shafts I figure couldn't be rocket science but doing the clutch apparently is a nightmare so a quick call to a mate who works at a local garage and he said "fetch it down to us" Best price they could do was £280 which included fitting the shafts, clutch, oil and filter, new plugs, new diff oils. Happy days!!! As I said I've only had the car 3 weeks so I've yet to make it look half decent, but here are some pics of how it stands as it is I hate the colour of the wheels and brakes and the fact the bonnet scoop is also blue, so the plan is gloss black bonnet, flat black wheels and brakes, all blue vinyls will go, black grill(it's carbon wrapped in the pic), fly eye all lights, and fit a front splitter. I have new mats(it didn't have any when I got it) and seat covers as the seats just look proper grubby. Then when I have it looking better I will start on the handling side. Engine-wise, being a non turbo, it'll be treated to a new exhaust and I have already fitted a new induction kit. I am looking for a pic of the head of the bolts that hold the bonnet vents on because I want to open the vent on the induction side but when I tried to undo the first bolt it just snapped See! After that its just clean the filthy engine bay and enjoy!!
