  1. Anyone on here with a BRZ suffer with back ache? We have 3 cars and this is the only one I have problems with. None of my previous cars have had bucket type seats so I'm not sure if this is the cause or the fact there is no lumbar support. I'm currently trying out a lumbar pad to see if this improves things but wondered if anyone else suffers. I'm toying with the idea of getting rid of the car as the discomfort spoils things.
  2. Interested to hear from the other 2 BRZ owners in this forum. I've had my car for about 3 months now and I can't remember if this sound has always been there or started after a couple of weeks of ownership. Basically, when accelerating in lower gears I hear a kind of "pinking" or possibly rattling alongside the "vroom" normal acceleration sound. This sound doesn't accompany flat out acceleration, just what I would call normal acceleration through the gears. I think it is there in the higher gears but more difficult to distinguish due to engine noise. When my wife and son have been passengers they have not heard the sound so it seems to be something you can only hear from the driver's side. I have taken the car back to the dealership where it was bought from and they took the car out and couldn't hear the sound. I've also taken the car to another dealership for a 2nd opinion (I won't say who they are but they were pretty useless, the guy who drove my car admitted he had only seen one BRZ previously) and given his massive experience of the BRZ said he couldn't hear anything unexpected. I'm going back to the dealer I bought from last week as they have another BRZ I can test to see if I hear the same sound, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
  3. So I was just out and about an hour or so ago and stopped at some pedestrian lights. Stopped facing me on the other side of the lights was another Subaru (possibly a Forester). When the lights changed, the guy kind of waved at me. Is there a Subaru driver "thing" like MG drivers have?
  4. As you are in the MPG topic, you'll be pleased to know (if you didn't already) that the auto somehow has a better MPG manufacturer's figure than the manual.
  5. As people are listing previous cars, I'll complete my car ownership list. First car was a 1976 Mk 2 Capri. It wasn't a particularly good example, but ran it 1988-1994. During this time had reconditioned engine, gearbox, clutch, exhaust, alternator and about 10 starting motors. I don't think there were many mechanical parts not replaced, this was almost Trigger's broom in car form. Next up was a 1987 Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia and then a 1992 Ford Orion 1.8lxi before my Alfa in 2000. Current garage is the BRZ, the A6 and a Dodge Journey.
  6. We have a 2014 A6 S-Line too, I love it.
  7. In 2000 I got my first new car, an Alfa 156 2.0 TS. This served me well for 13 years and had a neighbour not driven into the side of it and written it off, very unlikely I'd be posting here today. After thinking what to get and whether I should get another car I decided on a 59 plate BMW 325I coupe. Really liked this but in 2015 due to a change in personal circumstances was able to go for a car I'd always hankered after, a TVR. So after a few months of searching, settled for a TVR Griffith. Picked this up in May 2015 but due to it being incompatible with me, had to sell it one month later. [emoji20] After having a TVR I wanted something exclusive and the GT86 seemed to meet the criteria. But better still, there were 10 times less BRZs, so this is how I ended up with one. Mine is the MY16 WR Blue Mica SE LUX. Optional extras were rear parking sensor, mats and side fin blades. Choice of sound system was between "bad" or pay more for "not exactly what I want" so I went with bad and got a Pioneer aftermarket system fitted that has bluetooth, satnav and DAB (which was the thing not present in the manufacturers option). Over to you....
  8. I suggest you sign up to the forum at www.gt86.org.uk More activity there and some GT86/BRZ veterans.
  9. The 45.4 was achieved with driving speeds of 60-75, a few miles in 50 limited roadworks and of course dreaded M25 and M1 traffic. At the halfway point the car was reading 48.8mpg so I expect the car could hit 47mpg+ without traffic. My satnav showed the car is only doing 66mph when the speedo shows 70. How active is the BRZ sub-forum, I thought the place looked a little deserted so wasn't sure if anyone was still about....
  10. Woodford Motor Co. Compact dealership location near M11 & A 406.(A104). Not huge facilities but plenty of options on vehicles available both new & S/hand. Staff helpful, friendly and importantly not 'pushy'. No experience (yet) of service dept. I also got mine from there in November. I'm not yet convinced they are experts on the car. On subject, I'm yet to get less than 32mpg. In a recent long journey I did a 440 mile trip on one tank of fuel. The car reported a 47.3mpg but the actual figure was 45.4 which is higher than the manufacturers extra urban figure, so all good.
