  1. awesome looking mod, make a big impact especially on top mount IC. I have seen it on a few other things but not on a Scoob.
  2. Thanks bud, this is my first scooby. enough room for the kids and dog but still my toy at the weekends. I cant recommend the Foz enough, apart from having a fuel habit it is great all round. I was abit apprehensive at first about doing the timing belt at home but I have a friend who is a Master tech head mechanic for a local dealer and I can only describe him as a mechanical wizard which was a massive help and saved me a few quid as well. Just waiting on more parts coming any day now so will post more tinkering pics soon.
  3. I have the same IC and that look awesome, is it just gold heat tape?
  4. Nice foz, would like to hear more about it and see a few more pics. Is it a sti?
  5. I have this clutch on my forester sti, good clutch and not terrible to live with as well. never had any judder from mines.
  6. Hi Folks Been a while since my last post and not alot been happening with the car, no problems but using my pocket to feed its fuel habit (no complaints though). Yesterday I finally managed to get some time in the garage to get the timing belt changed, the car had not long hit 84,000 miles and from what ive seen on the forums and from talking to people this seems to be the time to change the belt and give her a service. So I ordered a full timing belt kit from Import Car Parts (they have a section for the Forester STi Import loads of pages of parts at really good prices that get delivered within a couple days, always been happy with the service and genuine subaru parts every time I have ordered) Dayco belt, all the idlers and the water pump. I also got the timing belt guide from Roger Clark Motorsports for extra peace of mind, Also new oil , blue filter and spark plugs. So we took to the garage and got stuck in, out came the fan, radiator, alternator cover, aux belts (A/C etc) timing belt cover that has an unnecessary amount of screws but never mind, to reveal the belt. This is really the first time I have had anything large out the engine bay so was good to get a look and see what she had been hiding and I was not disappointed, very happy to see that someone has spent a lot time, money and has put a lot of effort in making sure that the car is solid and to this person I say thanks. There is a huge sump guard under it so anytime I had a look under you can't see anything without removing it. I found that it has heat wrap on everything, big fancy header pipes, a billion sport aluminium radiator ( japanese sports cooling specialist) with samco hoses and a few other bits (fancy radiator caps etc). What I found even more surprising is that some genius had got little individual belt guide for every pulley no name on part as they were pretty small but it's not something I have came across or heard of before but I like it. you can see the guide above the belt. Incredibly footery but worth it in my opinion. So after investigating it was back to getting the new belt on, decided to go for the Dayco belt as I don't plan on ever running big power and if I do ill change it at the time. All the old idlers and water pump looked in good clean condition and may have already been done but there was nothing in my paperwork to show it and no date on the old belt (which was in good condition as well) but at least if I do it i'll know it has been done. It was tricky keeping it in place and the last pulley was a nightmare and anytime you annoyed it, it done a 720 and we had to start again but always worth going back through everything and making sure it hasn't jumped a tooth (which it did 5 times), the last pulley was major wound up and we ended up taking the tensioner and guide roller next to it back off to get the belt on and in the right place the putting them back on, seemed to work easier. Belt on, all new water pump, idlers and guide rollers on and start putting it back to life and refill with coolant, checking everything again and again then fire her back up and pray for no horrible noises and Success. decided to leave the oil, filter and plug change for another day as it was snow and far to cold to do anymore but happy I got the belt done and got to see some of the parts I have been wondering about for a while now. Ill post when I get them done. What have you guys been up to with your cars this winter.
  7. the Foz brings nothing but joy, just the other day I was laughing at a friend who has a new Impreza STi which he needs to sell because its not a family car lol needless to say I made alot of noise when I was leaving. Great I'll get on that, I would like to get it sorted before we get anymore snow.
  8. Hi Folks Not been on in a while (busy working for fuel), looking into new break discs and pads for the Foz and wondering if anyone has any recommendations? and can I fit impreza ones as mostly just standard ones for the Foz and I would like upgraded ones. and on a side note if anyone has nice gold alloys in the Glasgow area that are for sale let me know. Thanks
  9. Hi folks Need help with this one guys, so my FSTi drivers window motor stopped working (which is magic) and after investigation I found the window motor is knackered. Finding a replacement motor at a decent price has been a nightmare, even a breaker was wanting £150 for the motor on its own (crackpot). Does anyone know if the 2004 impreza or legacy motor will fit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Great, thanks for the help. I eventually got the car on my ramp at work and to my surprise it it spotless, one leaky CV boot and thats it. very happy chappy but this will come in handy when I start to buy shiney bits, need to try find some speedline wheels or something for it as I am not a fan of the Oz wheels.
  11. I was luck enough that my FSTi didn't have a jap unit in it (previous owner done full sound system in it) but I will be putting a double din for reversing camera because according to the wife a towbar isn't a good enough parking sensor. Interested to s how you get on with yours and what else your doing with the car.
  12. Hi folks, just got myself a 2004 Forester STi which I am very very happy with . Its in very good condition overall but could do with abit of love to get it properly mint so I am just wonder what parts can be used from the same year impreza like are the disc and pads the same etc... any help would be great.
  13. So I finally got it, 2004 Forester Sti and I LOVE IT! Really happy with it and she sure shifts, got a few bits planned for it to tidy it up and looking the part and get the timing done, service and few other bit. Currently has few nice parts fitted including Tein coilovers, stage 1 remap , stage 1 clutch, some samco hoses and some others. Will get it in my workshop this week o have a good look under it and go from there.
  14. Which belt did you go for? Im thinking the sti one or cossworth.
  15. what is your experience with timing belt kits? I had asked my local performance garage about doing a upgrade kevlar STi belt and he said they were very noisy and unnecessary if not running crazy BHP. The FSTi is currently running 305bhp from last dyno in the paperwork and I wont be making it more for now, just concentrate on getting her nice smooth and shiney for a while as it will mainly be getting used by my wife to get the kids around and its my toy at the weekend lol.
  16. Is the rear anti roll bar on the forester the same as the impreza sti, the one on the forester has seen better days and I am abit fussy when it comes to these things, if anything don't look right it get replaced.
  17. So I seen the car at the weekend and It was pretty mint apart from some small mark but that ok, It also had a few nice mods that the guy in the dealership had no idea about (he didn't know what he had), so I will be getting the car on Thursday and will get it into my workshop and give it a good check over but overall im pleased with it and I will get some pictures up soon as. I can feel my pocket getting lighter already.
  18. Fare point, I will ask tomorrow when I see it
  19. Great, thanks very much for the advise. Really looking forward to going to see it but just want to make sure i'm not buying something that going to cost me as it will be a family car (plus my new toy). I've been told the car was running on LPG by previous owner but has now been removed, any experiance with that?
  20. Hi Guys Just looking for some advice, I am going to see a 2004 Forester Sti that has done 81,000 miles. I have never had a Subaru before and just looking for some buying tips, any help is much appreciated. Thanks
