  1. Hi guys Well it happened, I have the dreaded piston problem in the Diesel boxers and have only owned the car less than three months! Trying to get my money back from the place I bought it from because I was supposed to have warranty on it but the place never took it out and so they're going to "try" and get the engine fixed. Long story short, I don't trust the guy and am looking to get refunded. It's my first Impreza and I love it! I want to buy another but I'm looking at getting a 2.5 WRX instead. Main question is are there any major faults that I need to look for before buying one? Are there piston/crank problems with these petrol boxers too? Thanks for any advice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Hi all Ive noticed the engine is making a strange noise. when I rev it up and the revs are coming back down, it sounds like a knock at low revs before it hits idle. Also if the engine is running and I take the oil cap off there seems to be a good bit of steam coming out. Plus I've been told the engine doesn't idle nicely? It's seems fine to me. I assumed it's how the boxer Diesel idles lol Any more info needed just ask and any info received is greatly appreciated as I'm hoping it's just boxer noise and don't want to get rid of it! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Lol thanks for the reply guys! I probably won't go for it, just thinking about it because I have slight engine judder when idling which doesn't happen often, and carbon cleaning apparently fixes it? but was thinking kill the problem before it becomes worse! 4. Thanks for the reply. I do the Italian job way quite often so I'm probably burning a lot of the carbon then. I definitely wouldn't want to try the water treatment myself lol Upon reading more pages through google it seems like they all use hydrogen to disperse and clean away the carbon and the process takes around 40-50 minutes for great results Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I keep seeing these carbon cleaning adverts on Facebook lately and so I had a quick google search and found some reviews by would be customers. All said it was well worth the money, more power yada Yada yada. Wanted to know if anyone from here has had it done and was it worth it or not? If it's as good as it sounds for the price I'll be getting it done, but don't want to pay for something which will reverse in a couple of months [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Well, long story short. When bought car it had too much oil in it. Went to drain a little, dropped the sump bolt and all the oil came out. It's late Sunday so can't get a filter. Got spare oil so just filled it back up. It was serviced earlier this year and done less than 3000 miles so I'm not too worried about the filter. How long should I wait to change the filter? I know I'll have to change the oil again which doesn't bother me but I don't want to wreck the engine. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  7. Can't find indicators to change up my original ones. Looking for crystal/clear repeaters but I can't find any for my model of car. Looked on many scooby sites and eBay. Does anyone know where o could find some? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. Tim couldn't help me in the end lol he couldn't get through to his suppliers. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited a couple weeks because he was recommended, but he had no luck, so he said I should call the manufacturer instead. Called Hel Performance the same day and got them couple days later! [emoji23]BUT.. wrong colour.. wanted red, got PINK!! 🤦‍♂️sent them back today finally and HOPEFULLY will have the right colour 🤞 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. the pollen filter housing and what's behind it. Nothing.[emoji58] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Tried finding the receiver module at the weekend but couldn't locate it anywhere! Behind the glove box is the pollen filter housing and under that is a chamber that connects to the housing with what looks like a small motor of sorts to draw the crap to the filter? And this takes up all the room! The module wasn't either side of it nor under the drivers side. So knowing my luck it's behind the dashboard! I've tried looking for a Haynes manual for my year of Impreza but can't find that either. Do they do a manual? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. Ok will do, I'll give it a shot tomorrow in hopes of finding the Ariel. Thankfully don't live near High cables or substation so I can cross that off [emoji106] The poor sod who had to push his car though, bugger that! Lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Right they finally called back. Apparently the receiver module for the central locking is behind the glove box, either to the left or the right. It should be mounted on a metal plate and it should have Sigma printed on it (if you have a sigma alarm) Will have to have a check when I get home. But from what I can tell, wouldn't the metal plate it's mounted on be hindering the signal in the first place? That's all Subaru could provide me with, other than change the battery in the fob. If all else fails he said take it to Subaru so they can check themselves and find out what's going on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Lol [emoji23]I've always got to be an inch away, mines never worked far away. Tried calling Subaru, waiting for them to reply to me. Will post what they say about its whereabouts if they know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Strange how it's not every Subaru and it's randomly effecting certain cars! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Yeah I read a thread about someone who had a Forester who had the same problem. They managed to locate the wire behind the glove box but mines not there. Is there any sites that would show where it could be housed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
